Another update -- hopefully the last one -- regarding Sly 2's PS4 & PS5 release.
Slysonic -- with help from NanakiEmi, Gnist, Foas and neon -- has found a reliable and accessible way to obtain PS5 v1.000.000 on a PS5 console. It requires a valid license of the game and a PS5-compatible external hard drive. Additional details and a video tutorial can be found in a pinned message in #sly-2 of the Sly Cooper Speedruns Discord.
With this development, we will be reverting the March archival and ban of PS5 v1.0 runs. All PS5 v1.0 runs will be restored to their previous location, and they will be eligible for submission in any category. The leaderboard split will now be between "Classic" and "PS4/PS5 v1.0". On the Category Extensions page, every Sly 2 CE will now be split in the same fashion. Slyfecta categories and Multi-game CEs will not have a leaderboard split.
Like before, "Classic" will house all versions besides v1.00 of the 2024 re-release; this includes the PS2 and PS3 versions, as well as PS4/PS5 runs using an updated version.
As always, please feel free to let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

The PS4 and PS5 versions of Sly 2 have been patched, removing the ability to skip cutscenes by pressing start (Universal Cutscene Skip / UCSS).
Since v1.0 is inaccessible on a PS5, we have moved all v1.0 runs performed on a PS5 to a Legacy board stored on the Category Extensions page. That board is linked here. Only runs performed on or before 24 February 2025 are eligible to be featured there. Any v1.0 run on a PS5 played after this date is ineligible for any leaderboard.
On the main Sly 2 page, the version split has been renamed to "Classic" and "PS4 v1.0". Classic houses all versions except for PS4 v1.00, including the updated versions of PS4 and PS5.
Obtaining v1.00 on a PS4 requires the use of a computer program called RewindPS4; it is a simple process and doesn't require console modifications. A tutorial can be found below.
For the moment, there have been no changes for Slyfecta or Category Extensions.
Regarding these changes and the broader status of PS4 v1.0 on the leaderboards, we encourage runners to share their opinions in the Sly Cooper Speedruns Discord. You are also welcome to direct any questions there.

The embargo period has officially ended. You can now submit runs performed on the PS4 and PS5 versions. Please note that Enhancements must be turned off for your run to be approved on the leaderboards.
The Sly 2 main leaderboards have been split into two versions: "No UCSS" and "UCSS" (UCSS = Universal Cutscene Skips). All existing runs currently on the leaderboards will remain under "No UCSS," while runs performed on the PS4/PS5 versions will be listed under "UCSS."
There will be no category splits for the Category Extension or Slyfecta boards, so runs performed on PS4/PS5 will appear alongside all current runs.
If a major patch is released in the future, we may need to revisit leaderboard arrangements, which could include retroactively rejecting runs if necessary.

Any submissions using the new Classics Collection releases (PS4 or PS5) will not be verified until 1 January 2025 at the earliest, in order to give the community time to properly investigate these releases. You are free to submit prior to this date, but the runs will not be verified until after the New Year. If there is a serious issue with the release, and we must wait for a patched version, your run may be rejected. We would also recommend playing with Enhancements Off if you hope to submit. Feel free to report your findings or experiences in the Sly Cooper Speedrunning Discord server.
