Glitchless Major Skips in 01:36.578 by J_qde - ROBLOX: Obby King Remastered - Speedrun.com
I initially submitted my run (^) in glitchless no major skips because I was really confused by the rules.
Now that the rules have been updated, my question is, if jumps that do not skip more than 5 jumps are not considered as major skips, does that mean if I did the skip (0:58)(^) on the 2nd or 3rd thing (Idk what you call them, but you know what I mean), the skip will not be considered as a major skip?
Also, I counted it as 6 jumps skipped because I didn't count the jump you do it the normal way that reaches the same platform. The reason is that you need at least 1 jump to do the skip, so I kind of cancelled it out.
(Just got into the map to take a screenshot of this)
The skip at red arrow 3 is now considered a major skip because it is skipping (6, according to my calculation method, or 7, if no cancellations were made). The skip at red arrow 2 would not be considered as a major skip if my calculation method was correct, and the skip at red arrow 1 would definitely not be considered as a major skip if based on both calculation methods.
Rules are really confusing sometimes.
Aah hewoo mmh yes, if you take the shortcut at 6, it would still be No Major because you only skip 5 jumps. But if you go to 7, it would count as 6 skipped jumps and it would enter Major Skip
A guide has been created! ^^
I actually do enjoy making guides :)
(In fact, I did try and make a few guides on Steam. They are not among the most popular ones, but a bunch of people did at least find them helpful.)
Thats nice, thx for your input and putting effort into them! ❤️
Glitchless Major Skips in 00:13.316 by J_qde - ROBLOX: Obby King Remastered - Speedrun.com
I have recently found this skip (0:05 in my run ^) and I'm thinking that this skip might be applicable to glitchless no major skips run as well, but I'm not sure.
Here's the screenshot:
The jumps at the pink arrows are omittable, which means you don't need to jump there. At pink arrow 1, the ropes are actually connected, so you can simply walk around the pillar. For the jump at pink arrow 2, the nearby terrain is close enough so you don't have to jump either.
If both of those 2 jumps are omitted, then you can go towards both spots where green arrows 4 & 5 are pointing at, without making the skip a "major skip". So, my question is, are those 2 jumps at the pink arrows omittable to the calculation of how many jumps skipped?
I'd also like to know if the "jumps" where you don't need to make a jump are calculated, when it comes to other maps as well.
If a jump is completely omittable and doesn't require any action from the player (like simply walking instead of jumping), then it is not counted in the skip calculation.
In this case, if the pink arrow jumps are truly omittable and the player never needs to jump there, they wouldn't be part of the skip count. This means reaching green arrows 4 & 5 without exceeding the "No Major Skip" limit should be valid.
For other maps, the same logic applies: if a section does not require a jump and can be traversed naturally by walking, it is not included in the skip count. ;-)
Consider me very obsessed with this topic because I do have another question:
If there is one or multiple jumps placed very close to one another (but you still need to jump), how are those calculated?
In both non-directional and directional situations as shown below, you can pick one to jump and completely ignore some others, while in the one-way situation, you can ignore the first one if you jump directly onto the second one.
I suppose in both non-directional and directional, you would pick the shortest route possible to count right? And for the one-way, both jumps are counted as usual?
(That's a nice guide you've got there btw :))
In both non directional and directional cases, you only count the shortest possible route. Since players can freely choose which jumps to take, the ones that are ignored due to a more optimal path are not considered skipped jumps For the one way situation, every jump in the sequence is counted, because the player is required to follow the given path without an alternative route. Even if the first jump is bypassed by landing directly on the second, both are still included in the total jump count
