You don't need to stand up in the corner after rolling into it, but it seems to make the AI kick you out of the grab faster. Also, you need to have left handed aiming to roll into the corner properly.

The tech above is more consistent with Helena but not Leon due to his bigger frame. This method here is far better for Leon and is generally more consistent. Can be done both right/left handed.
