As fast as I can tell I've been doing the proper input timings, however every single time I do this I get gengar instead of hitmonlee. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Using Gambatte emulator with default settings. There is no save file either.

you need the BIOS image (the screen that says gameboy). manips only work with hard resets, which take you to that screen. Also for running this game you need Gambatte-speedrun, which requires the BIOS image.
