The route here doesn't vary too much from the Any% route nor do a lot of the strategies. That being said, it is common to have higher levels (usually by one or two) and more Meseta in this run compared to Any%, so keep that in mind.
NOTE: The guide follows closer to the "Adgey" strats with some slight variation and usage of "Tyler" strats. There is by no means a "correct" way to play through this game as there are at least 3 viable strategies for Any% that can be rolled over into 100%.
These rules apply to 100%:
All Towns must be visited. All Hunter's Guild quests must be completed and their rewards obtained. All of Wren and Demi's Skills must be learned. ¤Demi's Phonomezer. ¤Wren's Hyper Jammer, Burstroc, and Positron Bolt. All Dungeons must be visited AND objective completed. Objectives are defined for option dungeons below: ¤Wreckage Terminal to active the cutscene describing the PS3 story must be activated ¤Plate System must be shut down ¤Boss of Climate Control must be defeated ¤Repair Kit Terminal at the Weapon Plant must be used at least once. ¤Megid must be learned from Anger Tower
Any OPTIONAL note is not required for 100% rules and WILL add time to your run, but generally add to the safety of the run. A RECOMMENDED option is also optional, but highly recommended. It may cost more time now but that time could possibly be made up later. Any battle with CRITICAL MODE attached to it are not optimal strats but are designed to help you salvage a battle in the worst possible case scenario. Also, in each boss fight I give stats, weaknesses, and abilities. Under abilities I list the odds of them using said ability, what element the ability is, and what stat is used to resist or decrease said ability.
Roles are defined as follows: Damage: The character's job in the fight is do deal damage Support: The character's job can swap between healing and damage, whatever is needed Healer: The character's job is to heal throughout most of the fight. Tank: The character's job is to swap between self-healing and dealing damage. Meatshield: The character's job is just to take hits and do nothing to recover from it.
Also worth NOTING: On death, a character does NOT lose their Barrier, Deban, and Shift buffs (or any iteration of those buffs). They do, however, lose their Saner buff. This is because the game sets a character's in battle agility to 0 when they are dead, paralyzed, or sleeping. When they come back into combat, the game sets their agility back to their natural number, meaning you have to rebuff them. Keep this in mind.
-
After you get control of Chaz, change the battle speed and message speed to 1.
-
Go through the story and Basement up to the Iglanova fight. Run from every battle. a. Alys - Vortex, Chaz - Earth, Hahn - Defend b. If Earth hits, Iggy is not moving AND no other mobs are on screen: RUN Else: Alys - Vortex on Iggy, Chaz - Attack Mob, Hahn - Nothing unless Chaz misses the mob c. It should take all of Alys' Vortex skills to finish off Iggy. If damage is low, just attack again.
-
Continue on story, stopping at Mile (to get the Ryuka point) and going to Zema. Run from all fights.
-
Go through Birth Valley as normal, running from all battles. OPTIONAL: Grab the Carbon Shield to the right of the entrance. Can save on money later.
-
Get Rune in Molcum. Create the following Macros: A: Rune - Gra, Alys/Chaz/Hahn - Defend B: Rune - Hewn, Alys/Chaz/Hahn - Defend OPTIONAL: Put Rune in front of the party.
-
Stop by Krup for the Ryuka point later.
-
Go to Valley Maze. Fight any encounters in there using Macros A & B RECOMMENDED: Grab the 300 Meseta chest. a. It is generally accepted to grind by the exit to Tonoe until you have at bit between 2000-2300 Meseta or more. b. Chaz needs to be at Level 4 at this time to make the Tonoe Basement easier.
-
At Tonoe, remove Rune's White Mantle, Wood Cane, and Circlet. Stay at the Inn.
-
Sell the White Mantle and Circlet. DO NOT SELL the Wood Cane. This is a reset if you accidentally do.
-
Depending on your money and if you got the Carbon Shield in Birth Valley, pick one of the following lists. a. 1 Titanium Mail, 3-4 Carbon Shields, 2 Telepipes, 1-2 Escapipes (2110-2400 Meseta) b. 1 Titanium Mail, 1 Titanium Shield, 2-3 Carbon Shields, 2 Telepipes, 1-2 Escapipes (2490-2780 Meseta) c. 1 Titanium Mail, 2 Titanium Shields, 1-2 Carbon Shields, 2 Telepipes, 1-2 Escapipes (2870-3160 Meseta) NOTE: 2 Telepipes AND 2 Escapipes are required, but you can skip 1 Escapipe and grab the one in the Basement NOTE: If you are still short on cash, sell Hahn's Dagger and Alys' Boomerang for 60 Meseta.
-
Talk to Grandfather Doran. Say NO to the first two questions and YES to the second to swap Rune for Gryz.
-
Place Gryz in front. Remove his equipment. Set each person's order and equipment to the following: Gryz: Titanium Axe Alys: Leather Crown, 1-2x Titanium or Carbon Shields, Titanium Mail Chaz: Titanium Helmet, 2x Hunting Knives, Titanium Mail Hahn: Leather Band, 2x Carbon Shields, Leather Cloth NOTE: Titanium Shields will make Alys more tanky and surviving will be easier. Do what your money can handle.
-
Set the following Macros: A. Hahn - Wat, Alys - Foi, Chaz - Tsu, Gryz - Defend B. Gryz - Crash, Chaz - Earth, Alys - Defend, Hahn - Defend
-
Enter and make your way through Tonoe Basement. a. Fight mobs with Macro A until Chaz runs out of TP, then run from battles. OPTIONAL: There are 3 chests totaling up to 900 Meseta (100 in 1st floor, 500 & 300 on 2nd floor). OPTIONAL: On Floor 3 there is a Titanium Crown for Alys. Gives her +6 Defense. Not needed if she has 2x Titn Shields b. If you only bought 1 Escapipe, grab the one in the chest next to the Alshline. c. After grabbing Alshline, use Escapipe and Telepipe to Zema.
-
During Iglanova fight, use Macro B. One of the following should happen. Follow the steps based on what happens. a. Crash hits: fight over. b. Earth hits, no mobs: RUN c. Both miss: Crash on Iggy again, Chaz attack Mob, others defend (or use Foi/Wat on Iggy. NOTE: If Crash doesn't hit at least after a turn or two, consider yourself very unlucky.
-
Go into Bio-Lab. Do the following if you see certain monsters: GUILGENOVA: Crash on him, attack/Foi/Wat on any mobs. If Crash fails: RUN ISMOUNOS: RUN OTHERS: Macro A, then RUN after Chaz runs out of TP. a. Get the Ceramic Sword and immediately give it to Chaz. Will give him a +7 in Defense. NOTE: If Chaz dies during this dungeon, it's not a reset, but will require more grinding in Wreckage.
-
After you get Rika, stop into Nalya. Rest at the Inn and go to Wreckage.
-
In Wreckage, you will want to accomplish the following: a. Get Chaz to Level 6 and Rika to Level 5. b. Grab every Chest in the dungeon. Ceramic Shield and Mail can be given to Rika. c. Activate the control panel at the end of the dungeon (completes requirement for 100%) d. Use Escapipe when finished.
-
Walk to Aiedo. Sell Ceramic Knife. Depending on your money, here are shopping lists: a. Ceramic Helm (1600 Meseta) b. Ceramic Helm, Graphite Shield (3900 Meseta) c. Ceramic Helm, Ceramic Mail (5300 Meseta) d. Ceramic Helm, Ceramic Mail, Graphite Shield (7600 Meseta) NOTE: If you purchased a Titanium Shield for Alys earlier, choose either lists A or C, else B or D.
-
Take "The Ranch Owner" Guild Quest. OPTIONAL: If you chose to ignore some of the money in the Tonoe Basement, grab the 1000 Meseta behind the Guild
21a. Set the order and equipment in the following way: Gryz: Titanium Helm, Titanium Axe, Titanium Mail Alys: Leather/Titanium Crown, Titn/Carbon Shields, Titanium Mail Rika: Graphite Crown, Ceramic & Graphite/Titn Shields, Ceramic Mail/Graphite Suit NOT RECOMMENDED: Don't try to give Rika a Claw or Saber Claw. Damage to Sandworm will be too low. Hahn: Leather Band, 2x Carbon Shield, Carbon Suit Chaz: Ceramic Helm, Ceramic Sword, Ceramic Mail. 21b. Set up the following Macro: A: Rika - Wood Cane, Hahn - Wat, Alys - Zan/Foi, Gryz - Attack, Chaz - Attack B: Rika - Defend, Chaz - Defend, Alys/Hahn/Gryz (any item but Wood Cane). 21c. Telepipe to Mile, rest there. Save, engage Sandworm.
This fight can rely heavily on RNG and is considered the first gateway of any Phantasy Star IV speedrun (either category). This is also around the time runners will Save for the first time, because bad luck can and most likely will happen.
BOSS: Sandworm HP: 1489, STR: 40, MTL: 1, AGI: 26, DEX: 22, ATK: 91, DEF: 28, MDEF: 19 Weak vs. Ice Strong vs. None Abilities: Attack (100%, Physical, Def) Objective: Defeat Sandworm with only Chaz and Rika surviving. All other scenarios are considered a reset. Roles: Rika - Support, Chaz - Damage, Hahn - Damage, Alys - Support, Gryz - Meatshield Strategy: Open off with Alys casting Saner, Hahn casting Vision, Chaz with Tsu, Rika Defend, and Gryz attack. Do NOT use Crosscut opening off. On the 2nd turn, Alys will use Shift on Chaz, so after Chaz has been buffed with it, feel free to use Crosscut, otherwise you will be wasting valuable damage. Vision is required to up the odds of Chaz hitting with a normal attack. If Alys has Zan, use it in the Macro to combo with Blizzard, otherwise use Foi. You will want to keep Hahn alive as long as possible since Wat does a good chunk of damage to Sandworm (around 5% of his total health) but if he dies early, you don't need to reset, it just will extend the fight a bit. Keep a count on Sandworm's HP. You don't want anybody but Rika and Chaz surviving this fight. If you know you are close to killing Sandworm, spam Macro B (unless Chaz or Rika are low on HP, then just Res/Wood Cane him). After Gryz, Alys, and Hahn are dead, and after Chaz has used up all his TP with Tsu, just spam Macro A. If you think a Wood Cane heal alone won't save Chaz or Rika from an attack by Sandworm, throw in Res as well.
-
Rest at Mile, Ryuka to Aiedo. Collect your reward at the Guild and Ryuka to exit Aiedo.
-
Go through Passageway (run from battles) and stop in Kadary. Rest if anyone is dead. OPTIONAL: Grab the Laser Slasher in Kadary. It's worth 1050 Meseta to sell.
-
Go to Zio's Fort. Run from battles here. a. Grab the 2000 Meseta and Laser Claw chests RECOMMENDED: Grab the Laser Sword b. Make your way to Juza, but don't talk to him yet.
-
Set up the following order and equipment: Gryz: Same as before Alys: Same as before Hahn: Same as before Rika: Graphite Crown, Laser Claw, Claw, Ceramic Mail Chaz: Ceramic Helm, Laser Sword, Ceramic Mail
Boss: Juza HP: 1523, STR: 28, MTL: 30, AGI: 22, DEX: 22, ATK: 92, DEF: 15, MDEF: 12 Weak vs. Light Strong vs. None Abilities: Foi (25%), Wat (25%), Zan (25%), & Forceflash (25%) Objective: Defeat Juza with only Rika and Chaz surviving. Roles: Rika - Support, Chaz - Damage, Alys - Support, Hahn - Support, Gryz - Meatshield Strategy: Start off with Rika using Saner, Alys using Shift on Chaz, Hahn using Vision, Gryz and Chaz attacking. If Juza didn't use Force Flash and Alys is still alive, have her use Shift on Rika as well. Use your best attacks on Juza, but, much like the Sandworm, keep a count on his HP if you can. You will most likely want to keep Chaz and Rika's HP above 60-70. If either Chaz or Rika take a single-target attack, have either Alys, Gryz, or Hahn use the Wood Cane to heal them up. When Chaz runs out of Crosscut, use Airslash, as it will do the same amount of damage as a normal attack but is guaranteed to hit. This fight is a reactionary fight, so don't be afraid to use GiRes in conjunction with the Wood Cane (you should have a Dimate that you picked up in Wreckage as well, so that can help). Overall, the fight shouldn't be too tough, but constant Force Flashes can cause a reset.
-
After the fight, remove Hahn and Alys' equipment. RECOMMENDED: Give Chaz and Rika shields. This should help against "Juza's Revenge" on way to Demi.
-
Place Demi in front and go to the Machine Center. Heal there, get the Land Rover.
-
Go to Monsen and start up the Earthquake cutscene.
-
Ryuka to Aiedo. Pick up "Tinkerbell's Dog" guild quest. The people to talk to are in the house directly right of the central Mall (the only house on that side with no dome roof). Talk to the father to advance in the quest. Also, buy a Shortcake. a. Ryuka to Monsen and talk to the dog. b. Pick up your reward.
-
Go to the Plate System. Run from the fights here. a. Make sure you get the Phonomezer here. RECOMMENDED: For an extra 10,750 Meseta, pick up the Ceramic Armor, Titanium Gear, Laser Axe/Knife/Barrier, and Stun shot. NOTE: Don't worry about anybody dying here. If you lose 2-3 characters, use Medic Power and heal them up. b. Shut down the Plate System. Use Hinas
-
Head to Termi. Rest at the Inn if a lot of TP was used to stay alive or if Medic Power was used.
-
Sell all items except for Wood Cane and Ceramic Shield. Here are your shopping lists, pick one. a. 2 Psychic Shields, 1 Psychic Crown, 1 Psychic Mail (19,400 Meseta) b. 3 Psychic Shields, 1 Psychic Crown, 1 Psychic Mail (24,000 Meseta) c. 3 Psychic Shields, 1 Psychic Crown, 1 Psychic Mail, Alis' Sword, Perolymate (24,540 Meseta) OPTIONAL d. 3 Psychic Shields, 1 Psychic Crown, 2 Psychic Mails, Alis' Sword, Perolymate (31,400 Meseta) NOTE: If you are within 3000 Meseta of getting the next Tier on the shopping list, go ahead and sell off Gryz and Demi's Armor at this point. NOTE: Don't bother equipping anything right at this moment. There will be a moment shortly.
-
Head to Ladea Tower. Run from fights. OPTIONAL: Instead of going right on the 2nd Floor to get to Rune, you can go left and take the stairs to a Star Dew. a. Get Rune. Don't equip anything at this point. b. Pick up the Frade Mantle. Set up the following for order and equipment: Demi: Whatever she has at this time Gryz: Whatever he has at this time Rune: Psychic Circlet, 2x Psychic Shields, Frade Mantle Rika: Psychic Crown, Laser Claw, Ceramic Shield, Psychic Mail Chaz: Ceramic Helm, Laser Sword, Psychic/Ceramic Mail RECOMMENDED: Detour to get the Star Dew and 1000 Meseta. c. Before climbing too far up the stairs to the Psycho Wand, Medic Power if anyone died, then cap off with Chaz' Res. d. Set up the following Macro: A: Rika - Deban, Demi - Barrier, Gryz - Attack, Rune - GiWat, Chaz - Crosscut
Boss: Gy-Laguiah - 2580 HP HP: 2580, STR: 100, MTL: 26, AGI: 23, DEX: 227, ATK: 150, DEF: 20, MDEF: 15 Weak vs. Ice & Light Abilities: Attack (50%), Firebreath (50%) Objective: Defeat Gy-Laguiah with at least Rika and Rune surviving. Chaz surviving is a bonus. Roles: Rika - Support, Rune - Damage, Chaz - Damage, Demi - Support, Gryz - Meatshield Strategy: Open with Macro A. Deban takes priority for Rika to cast over Saner because Gy-Laguiah has a near-guaranteed Critical attack chance and will hardly ever miss (both due to high Dex stat). After the first round, Rika can use Saner and the rest is basically damage control and shouldn't be difficult because all of his attacks are single target. Demi should use the Wood Cane if damage is low, else Rika should use GiRes if damage is high. GiWat will deal insane damage. Make sure that Demi and Gryz die before this battle ends, otherwise it is fairly straightforward.
-
After grabbing the Psycho Wand, if you haven't gotten the items from Termi Shopping List C, do so now. Set up the following Macros: A: Gryz - Psycho Wand, Demi - Barrier, Rika - Saner, Chaz - Crosscut, Rune - GiFoi B: Rika - Wood Cane, Rune - GiFoi, Others - Attack C: Rika - GiRes, Rune - GiFoi, Others - Attack OPTIONAL D. Rika - Wood Cane, Rune - Hewn, Others - Attack OPTIONAL E: Rika - GiRes, Rune - Hewn, Others - Attack
-
Ryuka to Kadary and walk to Nervus. a. Run from every battle. OPTIONAL: Grabbing the Wave Shot can net you 2000 Meseta when sold. b. Before engaging Zio, use Medic Power if anyone has died and cap off everyone's HP. c. Give Rika a Psychic Shield either in place of the Laser Claw or Ceramic Shield.
Boss: Zio HP: 2889, STR: 35, MTL: 38, AGI: 25, DEX: 219, ATK: 164, DEF: 35, MDEF: 38 Weak vs. Light Strong vs. Ice Abilities: Corrosion (38%, MDef), Hewn (25% MDef), Black Wave (25% MDef), Attack (12%) Objective: Defeat Gy-Laguiah with at least Rune surviving. Rika should survive but her dying will just set her back a bit. Roles: Rika - Support/Healer, Rune - Damage, Chaz - Damage, Demi - Meatshield, Gryz - Meatshield Strategy: Start off with Macro A. This 2nd turn will be free as Zio will only have cast Nightmare during the first turn. If you are going Claw strats with Rika, have her use Double Slash here, as she may not get another chance otherwise cast Deban. Chaz should use up his Crosscuts and TP with Tsu until he dies (you can try to keep him alive with Demi using Wood Cane or Medic Power if she still has a charge). If Chaz dies early, don't worry. When it is just Rika and Rune vs. Zio, you can start using your Macros. Use Macros B & C and if Rune runs out of TP for GiFoi, switch to D & E. You want to keep their HP above 85-90 as a general rule. If Rika drops below 60 HP, have her use a Macro with GiRes, otherwise just use Wood Cane. Corrosion and Hewn will only do 1 HP damage to Rune, whereas Black Wave and his normal attack will take out most of Rune's HP. If Zio single-targets Rune, use GiRes. It is worth noting that healing in Macros will automatically target the person with the lowest HP%, so more often than not in this battle, it should be accurate in its automatic targeting. Consider the battle close to over when Rune's TP gets down towards zero. DANGER MODE: If Rika dies in this battle, the battle can still be salvaged but will take much longer and will rely more on RNG. In this case, Rune will have to take turns to use the Wood Cane on himself. If this happens, use the Wood Cane when he falls below about 85 HP and pray he doesn't use a single-target attack twice in a row. Rune MIGHT survive 2 Black Waves in a row using the Wood Cane, but he will NOT survive a Black Wave and an Attack or two attacks in a row.
-
Heal at the Spaceport and Ryuka to Aiedo. Grab the "Fissure of Fear" quest and Ryuka to Monsen
-
Talk to the woman in the house in front of the crack to open it up. Go inside. Set equipment and order to this: Rika: Psychic Crown, Laser Claw, Ceramic Shield Rune: Same as before Chaz: Same as before
Boss: Fract Ooze HP: 1999, STR: 65, MTL: 1, AGI: 34, DEX: 31, ATK: 169, DEF: 0, MDEF: 0 Weak vs. Fire, Ice, Thunder Strong vs. Physical, Gravity Abilities: Attack (50%), Cell Split (50%, MDef) Objective: Defeat Fract Ooze with at least Rika alive. Rune and Chaz are bonus. Roles: Rika - Support, Rune - Damage, Chaz - Support Strategy: This fight actually isn't too difficult and doesn't require any Macro setup. Rika is given the Ceramic Shield here because it will change her attack element to Fire, meaning she will do more damage here than equipped with two claws. If you didn't get the Laser Sword from Zio's Fort and are still using a Ceramic Sword, Chaz will only do about half the normal damage because the Laser Sword is considered a Plasma elemental weapon whereas the Ceramic Sword is considered Physical, which the Ooze is strong against. The fight is typical. Start off with Deban to mitigate the damage from all attacks, then have her cast Saner in the 2nd turn. After that, heal when needed and use your best attacks. Rika and Rune will the most damage, so Chaz should be your healer for this fight unless you get barraged by constant Cell Splits, in which case Rune will be your main damage dealer. The fight shouldn't be difficult.
-
Hinas and Ryuka to Aiedo. Claim your reward and take "The Missing Student". Ryuka to Mile.
-
Talk to the man in the house to the upper left. Ryuka to Kadary and talk to the wandering woman in the church (as a side note, the run is invalid if you don't talk to the man in front of the church who drops to the floor. yes, I am just kidding). Talk to the old man by the bed then talk to the girl again to use your Perolymate, finishing the quest.
-
Ryuka to Kadary and walk to the spaceport. Heal and take the spaceship to Zelan.
-
Pick up all the items and recruit Wren. Order and equip: Wren: Pulse Laser Rika: Laser Claw & Plasma Claw Rune: Same as before Chaz: Plasma Sword
-
Hinas out of Zelan and ride to Kuran. During Chaos Sorcerer fight: Wren - Flare, Rika - Doubleslash, Chaz - Crosscut, Rune - GiWat. Should fall in one round.
-
After recruiting Raja, go to tavern in Ryuon and talk to bartender. Say YES to 4th option Ryuka to Ryuon.
-
Go to Tyler. Go through the Hanger, get Zirc. Helm. Heal at the Spaceport. Fly to Kuran. Set up the following Macros: A: Rune - Gra, Wren - Attack, Rika - Attack, Chaz - Attack, Raja - Defend B: Rune - Hewn, Wren - Attack, Rika - Attack, Chaz - Attack, Raja - Defend When Chaz reaches Level 17 (must be done before Dark Force fight) C: Raja - Sar, Wren - Recover, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - GiThu, Rune - GiFoi D. Raja - Ataraxia, Wren - Flare, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - GiThu, Rune - GiFoi E: Wren - Barrier, Rika - Saner, Raja - Blessing, Chaz - GiThu, Rune - GiFoi
-
Fight any battle you come across except for C-Ray Tubes. a. Macro A should be the go to, but Macro B can finish Sat.Minion fights sooner. b. Placing Raja in front and killing him guarantees more XP goes to the main 4 characters, just make sure Rune stays alive. b. Make sure you get Chaz to level 17 (GiThu). c. Grab all chests except for the Napalm Shot, making sure to get the Hyper Jammer at least (required for 100%)
-
Order and equip: Wren: Zircon Helm, Pulse Laser, Zircon Armor Rika: Psychic Crown, Plasma Claw, Plasma Field, Ceramic Mail Raja: Psychic Circlet, Psychic Shield, Frade Mantle Rune: Silver Circlet, Psychic Shield, Silver Mantle Chaz: Ceramic Helm, Pyshic Shield, Plasma Dagger, Psychic Mail
Boss: Dark Force 1 HP: 4540, STR: 100, MTL: 1, AGI: 20, DEX: 32, ATK: 230, DEF: 5, MDEF: 5 Very Weak vs. Light Strong vs. Physical Abilities: Flare Shot (50% Energy, DEF), Burstroc (25%, Physical, MDEF), Phonomezer (25%, Physical, DEF) Objective: Defeat Dark Force with Chaz, Rune, and Rika alive. Wren is bonus, Raja preferred dead but not a run-ender. Roles: Chaz - Damage, Rune - Damage, Rika - Support, Wren - Damage, Raja - Support Strategy: Open with Macro E, hoping that Dark Force doesn't Flare Shot Raja right off the bat. If he does before Blessing can come up, it is most likely a reset. Basically, just heal when needed. a Flare Shot on Rika is a free turn. Raja should try to get off St. Fire during a free round like this. On Phonomezer or Burstroc, use Macro C and hope for some reason Dark Force doesn't double tap (rare but can happen). When Chaz gets below 20 TP, use Macro D UNLESS the party needs healing, in which case have Rika use Sar, Raja use Ataraxia, and Rune Wood-Cane on Chaz (if he won't survive another attack). One Ataraxia cast should be enough. After this, cut healing on Raja and let him die. Other than that, Double Slash, Flare, GiFoi, GiThu will be your bread and butter for the fight. DANGER MODE: Okay, so Raja has died (after using Blessing) and any time you use Rune to get him up, Dark Force keeps knocking him down before you can heal him. The fight is can still be salvaged but it is up to you whether you want to attempt it or not. If you didn't get an Ataraxia off to restore Chaz's TP, then he will be forced to use Dagger Crosscut strats and Rika will be forced to heal. Not efficient at all and not fun, but it can still save a run, especially if you know you're close to killing him.
-
Heal at the Spaceport, go to Zosa Equip and Order: Raja: Nothing Wren: Same as before Rika: Same as before Rune: Silver Circlet, Psy Shield, Psy Shield, Silver Mantle Chaz: Same as before RECOMMENDED: Buy a Flame Sword.
-

If enemies combine into Lifedeleter, use Spark on them. d. Get 5000 Meseta chest. e. Fight De-Elm-Lars with best attacks. Should be an easy fight not worth mentioning. Brose does work on him. f. Hinas and Ryuka to Zosa (or Tyler if you need Healing at the Spaceport, then to Zosa)
-
Go to Myst Vale a. Grab the Trimate and Star Dew b. Kill off Raja and fight enemies here with Macros A & B OPTIONAL C. If Chaz is below level 21, grind in front of d. Get Silver Tusk. NEVER sell this item. e. Hinas and Ryuka to Zosa

Choose a list below: a. 2 Reflect Mail, 7-8 Trimates (56,400-56,800 Meseta) b. 2 Reflect Mail, 1 Laconia Sword, 7-8 Trimates (76,800-77,200 Meseta) NOTE: If you don't have enough money for list B right now, come back for it after Weapon Plant. NOTE: If you need the money, sell the Laconia Rod. Most likely this is what you will do but if you have the money, it may be worth hanging onto it until the end of the Air Castle.
-
Order and equip: Wren: Zircon Gear, Pulse Vulcan, Zircon Armor Kyra: Silver Crown, Plasma Shield, Reflect Shield, Reflect Robe Rika: Psy Crown, Silver Tusk, Plasma Claw, Reflect Mail Rune: Silver Circlet, Psy Shield, Psy Shield, Reflect Robe Chaz: Ceramic Helm, Laconia/Plasma/Flame Sword, Reflect Mail

Grind at the healing circle room until she is there. OPTIONAL: Grab the chests with 8000 Meseta and the Sol Dew g. Before the Triplets, equip Rika with the Plasma Field in place of the Genocyber Claw and put her in the back. h. Heal up.
Boss: Xe-A-Thoul x3 HP: 1520, STR: 40, MTL: 118, AGI: 35, DEX: 234, ATK: 162, DEF: 0, MDEF: 3 Very Weak vs. Light Weak vs. Holy Abilities: Thunderblast (100% if all 3 are alive, Energy, MDEF), Attack (37.5%, Physical, DEF), GiWat (37.5%, Ice, MDEF), GiZan (25%, Physical, MDEF) Objective: Survive the fight with Rika alive. Roles: Rika - Damage, Kyra - Support, Chaz - Damage, Rune - Damage, Wren - Damage Strategy: This fight is scary at any level as you need to be able to kill them all at once. Thunderblast will deal 1 Damage to Rika so long as she has the Plasma Field equipped, meaning she will most likely be the only survivor. We put her in back to minimize the risk of her being single targeted by all three on the first turn (which can still happen). Once Xe-A-Thoul uses Thunderblast, that will only be what they attack with until one dies, then they will go back to their other abilities. The fight is simple enough to execute. Start out with Macro C on the first turn. If Rika was targeted by any attack, heal her with someone else on the 2nd turn, else have Kyra use Medice or Chaz use GiRes on whomever is closest to death. If Xe-a-Thoul only used Thunderblast during the first turn, have Kyra use Medice on Chaz on the 2nd turn. Rika should use Shift on herself on the 2nd turn. Other than that, Chaz uses Airslash, Wren attacks, Rune uses GiGra, and Kyra uses Hewn until they are dead. 3rd turn and onward, Rika uses Disrupt (though the Genocyber Claw is stronger, the Silver Tusk is Light elemental, which does double damage to this boss). Rika should have enough Disrupts to finish the fight safely. DANGER MODE: If someone other than Rika dies on the first turn, then have Kyra heal for the 2nd and 3rd turns, keeping either Rune or Chaz alive, whomever didn't die, then just let them die on the 4th turn. If only one Xe-a-Thoul dies, the other two aren't far behind but can still pose danger to Rika. In this case, GiRes won't help much so you'll have to just use Disrupt and hope she goes first. Worst case scenario is that Rika runs out of Disrupts before the fight ends. There are two options for you here depending on whether you sold the Laconia Rod or not. If you DID sell it (normally done in any% but you should have the extra money in 100%) then all you can do is single target with Rika and hope that after you kill one, the damage from the other two don't kill you, then heal and try again. If you did NOT sell it, you can use it here. It won't do a ton of damage, but they are weak to the Holy element, so that would increase the damage by about 50%. If Rika dies first turn, you can still salvage the run, you just need to get Rune to use Rever on her (or Wren use a Moon Dew if you have one) and then let Rika take a turn to buff herself again. This will waste time, but it's better than having to redo the entire Air Castle.
-
Heal at the healing Circle, Hinas out. OPTIONAL: Return to Dezo to save. a. You need Rika at 28, Rune at 25, and Kyra at 29 before you continue. Grind at the healing circle if need be. b. Make your way through the inner part, grabbing the Star Dew along the way. Run from battles or use Macro B c. Equip Chaz with the Flame Sword if you bought it d. Make sure Rika and Kyra are in the back.
-
Set up/overwrite the following Macros before opening the chest to the Eclipse Torch: E. Wren - Barrier, Rika - Saner, Kyra - Warla, Chaz - Crosscut, Rune - NaFoi F. Rika - GiSar, Wren - Recover, Rune - NaFoi, Kyra - Hewn, Chaz - Crosscut G. Rika - Sar, Wren - Recover, Kyra - Medice, Chaz - Crosscut, Rune - NaFoi H. Wren - Psycho Wand, Rika - Double Slash, Rune - NaFoi, Kyra - Hewn, Chaz - Attack
-
After opening the chest, kill the Specter as quickly as possible (Flare will usually do the trick). Only Rune and Chaz can technically die and still manage to finish the next fight. If Rika or Kyra die, it is a reset.
Boss: Lashiec HP: 6383, STR: 35, MTL: 91, AGI: 34, DEX: 46, ATK: 228, DEF: 25, MDEF: 25 Weak vs. Fire, Light, Holy Strong vs. Ice Abilities: Reinforce (100% if HP <= 1596, all stats up), Thunder Halberd (62.5%, Electric, DEF), Anothergate (25%, Physical, MDEF), Posession (12.5%, Psychic, Mental) Objective: Defeat Lashiec with anyone alive. Roles: Rika - Healer, Kyra - Support, Wren - Tank, Rune - Damage, Chaz - Damage Strategy: This fight is basically a damage race, which is why you need Rika, Kyra, and Rune at a minimum level. Flamesword will also make this fight go by faster, but this can be done with or without with good success. What you do will depend on what Lashiec does. Opening turn will be Macro E and pray that he doesn't use Anothergate before you get barrier up. If he hits Thunder Halberd before Kyra gets Warla up, you can still recover but it will probably cost you a Star Dew later. If the buffs are up before Lashiec attacks, then you can respond accordingly to what he does. If he uses Thunder Halberd, use Macro G, else if he uses Another Gate, you will be forced to use Macro F. There may be a point when you need to use Macro F to a Thunder Halberd attack, but it will depend on how much damage was done and who is close to death. Anothergate means that Rika's TP will be eaten up faster. Possession can be a free turn, but it would require you to use Arows to wake up the character. If Rika is hit, this could be made difficult since her agility will be low. Anybody else is fine and shouldn't need to have their agility increased. After Lashiec reaches 25% HP, he will use Reinforce. IMMEDIATELY Macro H if everyone's HP is at a good enough level. This should take out close to half of his remaining health. If Chaz runs out of Crosscuts or Rune runs out of TP, the Macros will be useless and you'll be forced to attack manually. Using Airslash will guarantee a hit for the same amount of damage an attack would do, but you risk not getting a possible critical hit (low chance anyway and the odds are higher of Chaz missing a normal attack in this case). Rune can use Flaeli if he runs out of TP. If Rika runs out of TP, Rika should switch to using Double Slash and Kyra should switch to using Star Dews, but hopefully you won't have to use too many, if any. DANGER MODE: The only one you can have afford to die without any issues is Wren, as all he is doing is healing himself. If anyone else dies, you could be in trouble, especially if it is Rika. If Rika dies, revive her with Rune (Sol Dew preferable) and have Kyra use a Star Dew in place of Rika's death. Rika's natural Agility should be higher than Lashiec's, so you shouldn't have a problem getting back into the groove without using Saner. If anyone else dies, try to revive them while still maintaining normal healing operations. Leaving any turn without some form of Damage will make this fight very unpleasant. If two people die, there is not really a way out of that unless Lashiec is very close to death, at which point you better hope for good damage rolls and just all out attack him.

Ryuka to Tyler to Heal, then Ryuka to Meese. Change the following Macros H. Rika - Eliminate, Rune - Diem, Wren - Flare, Chaz - Airslash, Kyra - Hewn
-
Go to Garuberk Tower a. Give Chaz back the Laconia Sword. b. Choose your battles wisely and only if you get stuck. c. Dark Marauders may be hard to run from. Use Macro H in that case. d. Triple Radhin fights can be brutal, but also can be taken down with Macro H if you get stuck. e. Shouldn't have trouble running from De-Elm-Lars, but Brose can take them out if in a pickle. f. King Sabers are nearly a guaranteed run. g. Ghouls are easy to run from, else Macro D. h. Frost Sabers and Hakenlefts shouldn't be too much of an issue to run from without massive damage, else use Macro C. i. Chaos Sorcerers can be a pain. Brose, Eliminate, and Diem can work but not that well. j. Grab the Power Shield and both Star Dews in the dungeon. k. Make sure Chaz is at least at Level 25 before starting.
-
Before taking on Dark Force 2, check order and equipment: Wren: Elastic Gear, Pulse Vulcan, Elastic Armor Kyra: Silver Circlet, Psy Shield, Reflect Shield, Reflect Robe Rika: Psy Circlet, Silver Tusk, Genocyber Claw, Reflect Mail Chaz: Ceramic Helm, Laconia Sword, Reflect Mail Rune: Silver Circlet, Psy Shield, Psy Shield, Reflect Robe

Set up the following Macros: A: Wren - Barrier, Rika - Saner, Chaz - Power Shield, Rune - NaWat, Kyra - Hewn B: Wren - Recover, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - Crosscut, Rune - NaWat, Kyra - Hewn C: Kyra - Medice, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - Crosscut, Wren - Flare, Rune - NaWat D. Rune - Rever, Wren - Trimate, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - Crosscut, Kyra - GiFoi E: Chaz - Rever, Wren - Trimate, Rika - Double Slash, Kyra - GiFoi, Rune - NaWat F: Unchanged G: Unchanged H: Kyra - Repair Kit, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - Crosscut, Rune - NaWat, Wren - Defend
Boss: Dark Force 2 HP: 7524, STR: 99, MTL: 50, AGI: 35, DEX: 49, ATK: 176, DEF: 25, MDEF: 15 Weak vs. Light & Holy Abilities: Shadowbreath (50%, Physical, MDEF), Lightning Shower (38%, Electric, MDEF), Evil Eye (12%, Psychic, Mental) Objective: Defeat Dark Force with Rune, Rika, and Chaz alive. Wren is bonus. Kyra dead is preferred but not required. Roles: Rika - Support, Kyra - Support, Wren - Tank, Rune - Damage, Chaz - Damage Strategy: You don't need any extra defense in this battle since Dark Force only deals Magical Damage here. This battle is pretty much a reactionary battle and should easily be done with the Macros given, though some manual commands may be required here. Start off with Macro A. Best case scenario, Dark Force 2 uses Evil Eye on Wren (be great if he did that every turn, then the fight would be really fast). Most likely the attack will be Shadow Breath, in which case. you will need to use a Macro depending on what happened. If Wren was hit and survived, Macro B is what you will use. If anybody else was hit and lived, use Macro C. If Rune was hit and died, use Macro E. If anyone else was hit and died, use Macro D. If Wren was hit and died, use Macro H. With any luck, Macros D, E, and H won't need to be used. The problem comes with Lightning Shower. Most likely you will be needing to react to Lightning Shower with Macro F or with Kyra using a Star Dew. Don't worry about using Star Dews here, as you will be able to get more later. Evil Eye isn't too dangerous. Wren is immune to it while Rune, Kyra, and Rika should have high resistances to it with their Psychic gear. Chaz will probably be put to sleep by it. If anyone is put to sleep and stays asleep, have Rune use Arows (unless he was hit, in which case not much can be done) and make sure to use either the Swift Helm or Saner. DANGER MODE: There aren't a lot of situations you're put in that should require a Danger strategy. If healed up, Lightning Shower The only situation is if you have multiple characters die to a Lightning Shower. Sol Dews would be your only way out in that instance, which you might not have many if any left at this point. If Kyra and Rika are the fallen ones, you could try to use Rever with Chaz and Rune and hope they go faster than Wren with a Star Dew, or hope that Dark Force uses Shadow Breath or Evil Eye. If it happens, depending how deep into the fight it is, you may just have to attempt to power through the remainder of the fight, or reset.

Elastic Gear should suffice for now. b. Use Macro A on Lifedeleters, Goldine, and Juradaduel. Brose with any luck will take out what Wren cannot, or if Wren gets hit with Spark. c. Use Macro B on any other fight. d. On 3rd floor, go right for Positron Bolt. e. Make your way to Daughter. Use Macro D on the Dominator fight for a quick win. f. Hinas and Ryuka to Zema. Talk to old man and collect reward at the Hunter's Guild.

Get the Aero Prism and heal up. Engage the Dark Force 3 fight.
Boss: Dark Force 3 HP: 8240, STR: 65, MTL: 172, AGI: 40, DEX: 213, ATK: 299, DEF: 35, MDEF: 25 Weak vs. Light & Holy Abilities: Attack (37.5%, Physical, Def), Corrosion (37.5%, Physical, MDEF), Shadowbind (12.5%, Psychic, Mental), Mindblast (12.5%, Psychic, Mental) Objective: Defeat Dark Force. The more that live, the better. Roles: Rika - Support, Wren - Support, Chaz - Damage, Rune - Damage Strategy: This fight is a little finicky and a lot can happen. Start off with Macro D and hope that you don't get hit with Corrision first, else you may want to reset. On the 2nd turn, you will want to have Rika use Deban and have either Rune or Wren use a Star Dew (if Corrosion was cast) or heal on a normal attack. If Mindblast hit, you will want to wake anyone up with Arows. Once you are buffed, you can start reacting to Dark Force's attacks better. A normal attack should be healed with Macros A or B. Corrosion should be countered by Macro C or a Star Dew. Shadowbind should be countered by Rika casting Saner. Anyone asleep after a Mindblast should be cured through Arows and then followed up by either Saner or the Swift Helm. On any free turn, you can use any Efess you have, Wren's Positron Bolt and buff up Rika with a Power Shield, otherwise stick with the usual damage strategies. DANGER MODE: Any deaths that occur can easily be countered by Macros D & E. The only real risk of death here is if Dark Force double-taps your party, which can happen but is unlikely. Use your Sol Dews and Star Dews sparingly, but don't be afraid to use them if you are out of TP for a GiRes or need to triage fast.
-
Go to Rykros. a. Grab Guard Shield and Guard Sword at Silence Temple. Give Chaz the Guard Sword
-
Change the following Macro: A: Rune - GiGra, Wren - Attack, Rika - Disrupt, Chaz - Airslash G: Rika - Eliminate, Rune - Diem, Chaz - Attack, Wren - Attack
-
Hydrofoil to Strength Tower. Save before entering. a. Be picky on your fights. Death Bringers can be brought down with Macro G. b. Pray you don't run into triple Le-Faw-Gan. Try to run, but it might be a reset if you can't get away. c. Most other enemies can be defeated with Macro A. d. Bee-line for the left stairway on floor 2, which leads to the Guard Rod. e. Hinas, save, and re-enter. f. Grab the Guard Claw on your way to the right stairway. Follow it to the boss room. g. Give Rika the Guard Shield and Reflect Shield.
-
Before engaging the boss, change the following Macros: B: Rika - GiSar, Wren - Recover, Chaz - Guard Rod, Rune - NaWat C: Rika - Guard Rod, Wren - Flare, Rune - NaWat, Chaz - Crosscut D. Rune - Rever, Wren - Guard Rod, Chaz - Crosscut, Rika - Saner E: Chaz - Rever, Wren - Guard Rod, Rune - NaWat, Rika - Saner
Boss: De-Vars HP: 5499, STR: 94, MTL: 64, AGI: 42, DEX: 235, ATK: 286, DEF: 0, MDEF: 0 Abilities: Disruptarm (100% when hit with a Technique or Skill, Physical, Def), Attack (100% otherwise, Physical Def) Immune vs. Physical, Fire, Gravity, Holy Objective: Defeat De-Vars. Roles: Rika - Healer, Wren - Tank, Rune - Damage, Chaz - Support Strategy: This is probably one of the only consistent fights in the game that you can control. You do NOT want him to physically attack you, as it will crit and most likely kill you. Disruptarm is much easier to mitigate and control. Start off the fight with Rika casting Deban, Wren using Positron Bolt, Rune using NaWat, Chaz using Power Shield. Turn 2, Rika should use Saner and Wren should use Guard Rod. Rune with NaWat and Chaz with Crosscut. De-Vars should ONLY be using Disruptarm. From here, use Macro C. If Wren's HP drops below 90, use Macro B instead. This fight is very easy. DANGER MODE: Only extremely bad luck would cause you to enter Danger Mode. If somebody other than Wren dies after a Disruptarm, you can attempt to use Macros D or E. This should keep them up long enough to follow up with Macro C and get right back into the game. If Wren dies, just use a Repair Kit.
-
Grab and equip the Rings on Wren, Rika, and Rune. Give Rika back the Silver Tusk and Guard Claw for now. NOTE: Not staying in the room long enough can mess up the game's data so that it doesn't activate the flag that you got the rings. This can be fixed by re-entering the room with the rings, but it eats up a lot of time. a. Hinas and Ryuka to Silence Temple. Heal there. b. Hydrofoil southeast to Courage Tower. c. Save before entering.
-
Take the right stairway. Treat enemies here the same way you did in Strength Tower. a. Grab the Star Dew, then take the middle stairs. b. Take the Guard Mail (for Chaz) and Guard Armor. Go back down the stairs to floor 2. c. Take the left stairs leading up. Follow to the boss room. d. Give Rika the Guardian Shield in place of the Silver Tusk. e. Engage the Boss
Boss: Sa-Lews HP: 5499, STR: 40, MTL: 178, AGI: 42, DEX: 52, ATK: 240, DEF: 0, MDEF: 0 Abilities: Legeon (100% if attacked by physical attack, Energy, MDef), Flaeli (50%, Fire, MDef), Tandle (25%, Electric, MDef), Hewn (25%, Physical, MDef) Immune vs. Physical, Fire, Gravity, Holy Objective: Defeat Sa-Lews. Roles: Rika - Support, Wren - Tank, Rune - Support, Chaz - Support Strategy: This fight is a bit harder than De-Vars, but can still be controlled in a way. You should not have to worry about Legeon as you should never be hitting him with a Physical attack. Start off with Macro H. From here, this all depends on what Sa-Lews does. Tandle will do the most damage and might need a GiSar/Guard Rod combo to fix. Hewn can probably get away with Macro B. Oddly enough, Tandle won't do much to Wren in this fight. Flaeli is what you will hope for here, especially on Wren or Rika as they will basically absorb it. In that case, Rika can throw out a Double Slash whenever she doesn't need to heal (it is not worth using a turn to use Power Shield). Just keep your HP above 120 or so and hit him with everything you got. DANGER MODE: The same thing can happen here that happens against De-Vars. In those cases of death, recover with Macros D & E.
-
Grab the rings. (not too fast or else you could miss the flag that triggers the next cutscene) a. Remove the Guard Shield from Rika. b. Equip Chaz with the Guard Shield and Reflect Shield. c. Hinas and Ryuka to Silence Temple d. After you enter the middle chamber, if the party automatically goes to the center, you are all set. Otherwise, you will need to re-enter the Ring chamber of either the Courage Tower or Strength Tower. e. Fly to Dezo and heal at the Spaceport.
-
Ryuka to the Esper Mansion. a. Go through the Sacred Sword Cave, running from all fights. b. Unequip Chaz's Shields before grabbing the Elsydeon (Elsydeon overwrites what items are in his hands, losing valuable money). c. Exit Lutz's room and Ryuka to Tyler and go to the Spaceport.
-
After everyone is together, pick Kyra. Everyone should be well above Level 30. Order and equip: Wren: Palma Ring, Pulse Vulcan, Guard Armor Kyra: Laconia Crown, Reflect Shield, Plasma Field, Reflect Robe Rika: Mota Ring, Guard Claw, Silver Tusk, Reflect Mail Chaz: Algo Ring, Elsydeon, Guard Mail Rune: Dezo Ring, Psy Shield, Psy Shield, Reflect Robe
-
Fly to Dezo and Ryuka to Meese. a. Sell all unused equipment except the Swift Helm, Power Shield, and Guard Rod (and Photon Erase if you plan on using it). OPTIONAL: You can save the Guard Shield for Rika for extra safety, but at this level you should be fine. b. Make sure you have about 3-4 Sol Dews in your inventory, then spend the rest of your money on Star Dews (12+ is good).
-
Fly to Rykros and Hydrofoil to Anger Tower. a. Save before entering. b. Run from fights, else just use same strategies as before if you get caught. c. Take the left path. Grab the Sol Dew. Follow up to top floor. d. Use 2 Crosscuts on Alys. She can crit so you will have to hope for good luck and a fast kill. e. Say NO to Re-Faze to learn Megid. f. Hinas and Ryuka to Silence Temple. g. Fly to Mota, Heal at Spaceport.
-
Set up the following Macros: (Wren's attack instead of Flare in the macro if you are using Photon Eraser) A: Wren - Barrier, Rika - Saner, Kyra - Warla, Chaz - Crosscut, Rune - Swift Helm B: Kyra - Medice, Wren - Flare, Rika - Attack, Chaz - Attack, Rune - NaFoi C: Rika - GiSar, Kyra - Guard Rod, Wren - Recover, Chaz - Attack, Rune - NaFoi D. Kyra - Medice, Wren - Flare, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - Crosscut, Rune - NaFoi E: Kyra - Star Dew, Rune - Guard Rod, Wren - Recover, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - Crosscut F: Rune - Rever, Kyra - Medice, Wren - Flare, Rika - Double Slash, Chaz - Crosscut G: Chaz - Rever, Kyra - Medice, Wren - Flare, Rika - Double Slash, Rune - NaFoi H: Chaz - Airslash, Rika - Disrupt, Wren - Attack, Kyra - GiGra, Rune - NaGra
NOTE: Before going to the Edge, do a level check on everybody. Ideally, everybody should be at a certain level or beyond for this fight. Wren should be at 31. While having him at 30 is doable, his Agi is so close to PFD's that it risks him not getting Barrier out in time after a cancelling. Chaz at 30 or 31 will have enough TP for 3 Megid casts and enough HP to withstand a high damage roll Megid. He CAN finish at 29, at that point you're at the RNG's mercy. Rika can be anywhere as low as 34 with a dual-claw strat. Anything lower you may want to give her the Silver Tusk/Guard Shield combo, if you didn't sell the Guard Shield. Kyra can survive well as low as 32, but whatever level she is at when you get her again will be what you will stick with. Rune at level 30 minimum will survive most attacks, including Megid. Anything higher is just bonus.
- Hydrofoil to the Edge. Save before entering. a. Try to run from the fights. If you get caught, some can be won easily with Macro H. b. Chaos Bringers can be killed by Eliminate and Diem c. All other enemies can be one-shot by Elsydeon (Solder Fiends are weak to its effect). d. Change Macro H to: Rika - GiSar, Kyra - Guard Rod, Wren - Flare, Chaz - Attack, Rune - NaFoi d. Heal up before engaging the final boss.
Boss: Profound Darkness 1 HP: 8240, STR: 194, MTL: 76, AGI: 45, DEX: 61, ATK: 232, DEF: 0, MDEF: 0 Abilities: Change (100% when HP <= 4120), Shadow Breath (37.5%, Physical, MDef), Fire Breath (37.5%, Fire, MDef), Ray Breath (25%, Energy, MDef) Weak vs. Light & Holy Objective: Get to Phase 2 as quickly as possible Roles: Wren - Tank, Rika - Damage, Rune - Damage, Kyra - Support, Chaz - Damage Strategy: Start off with Macro A, then assess damage after that. Macro B should be your go-to Heal for this Phase. During the 2nd round, make sure Rika uses the Power Shield. This will keep her damage comparable to Chaz's throughout the fight. Don't waste any of your big damage abilities here. It should take about 5 Turns to change the phase.
Boss: Profound Darkness 2 HP: 9240, STR: 149, MTL: 152, AGI: 45, DEX: 254, ATK: 352, DEF: 0, MDEF: 0 Abilities: Change (100% when HP <= 4620), Attack (37.5%, Energy, Def), Distortion (25%, Gravity, MDef), Anothergate (25%, Physical, MDef), Lightning Shower (12.5%, Electric, MDef) Weak vs. Light & Holy Objective: Get to Phase 3 as quickly as possible Roles: Wren - Tank, Rika - Support, Rune - Damage, Kyra - Support, Chaz - Damage Strategy: The damage gets kicked up a notch here. Save your Star Dews and just use Macro C to counter Anothergate or Macro H to cover Lightning Shower (as Wren can survive without healing through a Lightning Shower just fine). Just keep the strategy the same and after about 5-6 Rounds, it should change phases again. Also, if Rika's TP starts to get close to 30, stop using the Macro and have her use Star Dews instead if need be. We need her to have some TP left for the 3rd Phase DANGER MODE: It is not uncommon for Rune to die to a high damage roll Lightning Shower. Even if you bring him back up to full HP, you are wasting a turn of damage, dragging the fight out longer. In this situation, if Rune dies, you may want to leave him dead until the first turn of final phase and then have Kyra use the free turn to use a Sol Dew on him. Granted he would still need to use the Swift Helmet to get his agility back up to snuff in order for Macro E to work, if hit with Megid on turn one you can switch to Rika using the Star Dew and Kyra using the Guard Rod long enough for Rune to get the Swift Helm up.
Boss: Profound Darkness 3 HP: 12999, STR: 99, MTL: 199, AGI: 45, DEX: 254, ATK: 352, DEF: 0, MDEF: 0 Abilities: Attack (37.5%, Energy, Def), Megid (37.5%, Light, MDef), Evil Eye (12.5%, Psychic, Mental), Cancelling (12.5%, Buff Removal) Weak vs. Light & Holy Objective: Finish her Roles: Wren - Tank, Rika - Damage, Rune - Support, Kyra - Support, Chaz - Damage Strategy: With this strategy, you shouldn't have to worry about Megid killing everybody (outside of a double tap Cancelling/Megid combination, in which case that is a reset if there are multiple deaths). During the first turn, use up your best attacks. Rune's Efess, Wren's Positron, Double Slash, Cross Cut, etc. Now, depending on what PFD does will determine what you do:
Megid: Use Macro E. Rune buffed with Swift Helm should make this safe to do. Attack: Use Macro D. If it hits Kyra, you have a free turn as the Plasma Field should absorb it. Evil Eye: If it hits, everyone use their best attacks and Rune use Arows if they are still asleep. If they woke on their own, use the Swift Helm. If it misses or targets Wren, you have a free turn. Cancelling: Use Macro A and pray that Barrier comes up before Megid. At Level 31, Wren should get Barrier off before Megid hits, but this game's RNG always will surprise you.
Just keep up this strategy. If you're getting constantly barraged by Megid, it will take Chaz and Rika about 14 Turns using just Macro E. However, Chaz most likely will only have 10 Charges of Crosscut. When Chaz runs out of Crosscut, switch to Megid, then to Airslash if the battle is still going on. For every "Free Turn" you get, you are saving yourself a turn by using Wren's Flare/Attack, Rune's NaFoi/Tandle, and Kyra's NaFoi/Hewn. In theory (really good RNG), this battle can end in 9-10 turns with this strategy, but that is relying on constant Evil Eyes missing or normal attacks hitting Kyra.
DANGER MODE: Best case Scenario is that one person dies to Megid. In this case, use the same strategy that you would use in Macro E, but make somebody use a Sol Dew as well. Worst case scenario is a double tap Megid (which can happen but is rare) or a Cancelling/Megid Combination (which will destroy your party and your run).
Single Differences: The current wide-accepted method for the Profound Darkness is to give Rika the Silver Tusk and Guard Shield. On average, this is about 1:30 to 2:00 minutes slower, depending on luck. Rika will survive solo shots better than with double claw, but regardless of strats, she will survive Megid at level 34 just fine with plenty of HP to boot. Upon research, I also discovered that there is less of a chance of success to win this fight compared to double-claw strats. The reason being is two-fold. 1. The longer a fight goes, the more likely it is you're going to be hit with a Cancelling/Megid combo. While is is possible for that to happen at any point regardless of strats, you don't want to give PFD any more opportunities for it to happen than she already has. 2. With less damage per turn, you will start to see that your resources are going to run out faster, meaning Star-Dew count could get tight, Rika's TP can start getting low (for Saner), and you might get to a point where you have to resort to Normal attacks, which at that point Rika will do less damage than Rune would.
Differences in Any% route
This guide can be used for the Any% route as well, but money will be a lot tighter. A lot of the boss strategies are the same minus a few things:
- You won't buy a Flame Sword to use only against Lashiec.
- Wren will not be as tanky because of the lack of Elastic Gear.
- Wren will have to pick up the Laconia Gear/Armor in Vahal Fort to survive Dark Force 3.
- You will only be doing "The Ranch Owner", "Fissure of Fear", and "Silver Soldier" quests, though you won't finish "Silver Soldier.
- You won't be going to Plate System, Climate Control, Weapon Plant, or Anger Tower.
- You will have to grind at Myst Vale for some money and to get Chaz to Level 21 at least.
- You won't have the Pulse Vulcan.
- Your supply of end-game Star Dews and Sol Dews will be smaller.
- You won't get Megid. In the final fight, instead of using Megid at the end, use Airslash or a normal attack. If Chaz isn't buffed with the Power Shield, then Rayblade will outdamage Airslash and a normal attack.
