Allowed Mods

The only allowed mods for this game are the "All_levels_fix_for_PK1.5_to_1.64" and "Custom Level Loader", any other mod has additional gameplay changes and is considered as modifying the game to gain an advantage. If you are not sure if you should use a certain mod or not, please leave a comment in this thread and I'll answer.

After discussions with various members of the community, it has been decided that Chapter 5 will remain indefinitely locked to only below Trauma along with other difficulty restricted levels, as there is no way to play them without using mods.

If somebody still wishes to speedrun the following levels: City on Water, Docks, Hell, and Abandoned Facotry without difficulty restrictions, please download Painkiller: Special Edition and refer to its Speedrun.com page.

PowerMad is not allowed because of gameplay changes that reposition certain ammo boxes and objects that completely change some strats such as Ruins Star%.

I was using Powermad for testing purposes. I uninstall it when doing actual runs though. That shouldn't cause an issues right?

Hello, if you uninstalled it during recording, it will not cause any issue. However there are some cheats that persist through saves like /pmfreezeenemies, but these cheats can be spotted very easily, so you shouldn't worry.

Was it necessary to delete all IL's with it though? Just kinda sucks and makes the board look more dead? I think I read on the patch notes that it like reverts the game to 1.62 or something or makes additional fixes but not sure on specifics?

Anyway good that you made a thread. Though I thought the rules where kind of obvious about mods already.

BTW there's logo for it in the main menu when it's on so could make that a requirement for runs?

It was necessary as allowing runs with mods will enable other people to install mods as well. Showing the menu is not necessary because Painkiller can be modded very easily and as such that logo can be taken out, whether a run used PowerMad is based on its effects on the run, for example a run can use PowerMad but if none of its effects are noticed, then it can't be proven. Unfortunately, PowerMad has some really obvious effects that I won't reveal due to anti-cheating reasons.

Tangible advantages? Just wondering don't need specifics.

If you are referring to PowerMad, yes there are some advantages that change some Star%/100% runs. For example this ammo box in Ruins which is no longer in ground which results in my strat being completely obsolete. A change that takes out a firesack out of a wall in Loony Park which means you can destroy it without the use of grenades, which would save time in Star%/100%, same thing with Stone Pit, and so on.

Of course when a mod offers such advantages, it is banned across every level and every category. It can't be like this "In this level you are not allowed to use mod x, y, and z", not only is it ridiculous but I don't think there's people that even read level specific rules.

Dynamic Lights mod is not allowed, this effect not only applies to weapons but also certain enemies which will make spotting their projectiles a lot more easy, like Maso's grenades which have a big light attached to them.
