I am new to speedrunning and am trying to figure out how to get set up. I have the livesplit timer and I have xsplit gamecaster. All the guides I find is all the tools I need to start speedrunning, but not how to actually record my game with the livesplit timer on the same screen. How do you all stream a speedrun on twitch and have the game with the timer on the same screen? I do see a way to add plugins or something, but it requires a URL, which I am unsure how to get for the livesplit.
Suggestions? I just need really general ways to get set up here. I have tried both xsplit free versions and obs and cannot figure this out. Thanks.
Use XSplit Broadcaster, it’s better for streaming in my opinion. As for how to add Livesplit to the stream, it’s as easy as just adding it to your layout.
You’ll have your layout in XSplit/OBS, so all you need is Livesplit running then you can capture it as an application/window capture and it’ll show up in your layout for all to see. In XSplit I know you can use a window capture and when you click the capture icon (a red plus sign like thing) it’ll automatically select Livesplit in its entirety for you so it stays to scale and on the layout regardless of where it move it on the screen.
Oh, I just misunderstood what the window capture was haha. Thanks for the help. I figured it out and it is all good. I also had to run the LiveSplit as an admin before it would let me use the timer in a full-screen game.
I'm having the same issue. Can't seem to locate a window capture option. Do you have to use Broadcaster for that or is it also in Gamecaster?
It might only be for broadcaster, I don’t know much about anything related to gamecatser. I know know that I never got gamecaster to work (only broadcaster) and I’ve heard from someone sponsored by xsplit that broadcaster is the better option for the majority of people.
