When to actually end the run? (asking for suggestions/opinions)

A friend of mine who wants to run the game soon too asked me why I have chosen the "yes" button as the end of the run.

From what I know most other games that are being run end right at the moment where the player loses control of the character/game for the last time. That also makes it way easier to know when to actually end the timer if the gameplay was recorded without a timer overlayed.

To me this makes the most sense but I would like to know if this should be discussed or not, because if there's change needed this would invalidate all the current runs so we might as well settle for it before it's too late.

UPDATE 09.15.2018: Run now ends once the screen flashes white after the tornado scene!

I think the current spot is appropriate. If we do change it I think the times can just be adjusted.

On clicking the yes button makes sense.

In my opinion I think it should be the moment the camera switches at the end of the tornado part - I get why wed wanna do time at the end but clicking through ALL that dialogue seems unneccecary haha

That being said, dialogue skipping has become somewhat of a large tech in the run, so there's definitely discussion to be had on it.

yes, that seems like a logical spot. however i think since there are dialogue boxes to go through i think that should be considered part of the run. if it was a straight up cut scene with no input whatsoever that would be a different story. another logical spot would be when it switches to the drone screen since technically it has a credit sequence? but there's still user input. maybe some outside opinions from veteran speedrunners would be a good idea.

Hi, new to the game.

Personally, I feel like the white flash after the tornado portion should work just fine. As every input afterwards have no real meaning to the gameplay, other than story purposes. This is the same for all Zelda games, where control is lost at a certain point, and the textboxes afterwards don't contribute to gameplay, just the story. And story in speedruns, nice one :).

This is my vision though.

The rules have been updated to change the timing so that the run ends on the white flash at the end of the tornado sequence after the boss fight. As of this message all current runs have been adjusted.
