This document contains all the items in the game and the names given to them in the code, this will be useful for creating your own levels. 
Sorry if it doesn't qualify as a guide, I didn't know where to put it.

Some notes: You need to install java  if you haven't already
I don't recommend making several adjustments to the ActionScript before pressing the save button at the bottom of your screen as doing so may result in being unable to save your changes. When this has happened for me, rebooting jpexs has solved the issue, remember to save your swf before rebooting.
