# Run Overview
The goal of the run is to collect all **gemstones** by defeating the bosses, open the doors to the arena and defeat **Siegfried**, winning the game.

# Routing
As movement is rather slow in Balmung, the fastest route uses the only method of quick travel: Dying and respawning at **checkpoints**.
Some regions are blocked of by doors which can only be opened by using specific **gemstones**. In some cases these can be avoided by using **secret pathways**, which are walls that can be traversed by climbing.

# Powerups
There are multiple ways to increase your damage, health and stamina. **Crystals** are scattered all over the world, and there are **shops** to buy health and stamina bonuses for gold. There is also a potion merchant who sells stamina and health **regeneration** potions. The later is very interesting, as it's the only passive health regen available.
Buying or collecting the powerups obviously takes time, and the tradeoff between speed and consistency/savety has to be considered.

# Curse
Dying in Balmung increases your **curse**. The more cursed, the more damage you do. This leads to the strategy to repeatably die on purpose to do more damage and defeat bosses more quickly. As the curse is decreased with every hit, this again is a tradeoff between time invested and more damage.

# Combat
The player attack has a cooldown, spamming the attack button is not better than getting the timing perfect.
**Important:** Every third attack done in succession does a lot more damage. To optimally use your stamina, you should try to get this attack to connect every time.
Another important combat mechanic is the shield, which lets you block some attacks from one direction, taking stamina for every hit. Some attacks can hardly be avoided using movement, so the shield comes in handy.

How to achieve 100%

To get 100% completion, you need to collect every gem, gemstone and defeat every boss. Many gems are hidden and are only reachable by secret pathways. Here is a map:
