Certified Bruh Moment

One of my iOS touch screen runs was rejected because a notification blocked the “picked up x item” / “you got the x”

No complaint just wanted to tell everyone how much of an absolute bruh moment this was

Did I mention this is an absolute unit of a bruh moment?

Also, quick specification. I find this funny, and I in no way mean any disrespect towards the moderators, I see why the rules are the way they are.

Hello, while we all understand this rule can be frustrating, it is still a rule that has been agreed on for verification purposes. The mod team needs to be able to see when specific instances happen on the messages, especially quicksaves because it has a message appear. If a run has no visible quicksaves and suddenly warps back to a spot for a trick, it will invalidate the run.

Before I was a mod, I had a few PC runs rejected for the same reason and have also had runs when playing on my phone become invalid due to inbound text messages. Due to the text messages invalidating my runs, I started playing on Do Not Disturb mode. I did see the run in question that you’re talking about and it is unfortunate that the screen recording notification came up.

Please take a moment to review the rules as they have been in place for 3 years now.

100% agree with the rule as it is impossible to know what could’ve been there. Thank you for not assuming I was some douchebag attacking the rules, this is a genuinely nice community.

My runs have forgot the same bit from time to time, yet all my uploads get rejected for not being submitted to the appropriate genre (even tho I have no clue what "appropriate genre" means if what I put was wrong.

No disrespect to anyone but... I would definitely appreciate it if mods would be a little more elaborate on things like that. You basically told me I put something in a spot I thought it went but you cackled and spat it back at me telling me to think about it harder if that's the best I thought..... You say WRONG! but don't tell us where the rejected content should go if it were your own submission that got rejected. Get my meaning by that?

@CERBActual Are you referring to one of our mods saying this? Or just speaking in general?

@CERBActual I checked recent rejected runs and found one from you, with this rejection description: "If this is meant to be an IL run, you submitted to the wrong category, please submit to the correct one but before doing so please trim the video down to only the run. We do not accept 10+ min videos for runs less than a min long."

Here is the description you put in for the submission: Original video (unedited). All levels included, not meant to be a "Full Run" however. Meant to submit individual levels, particularly for the final level E1M8 PHOBOS ANOMALY time being 00:48.690 All times for each level showed in the video are included in the video description though. There were several which were new records but the E1M8 was best

Video:

There are a few things wrong here;

  1. If it's an IL, please trim the video down. It's not necessary for a 10 min video for a 1 min run, it being at the start of the video would be one exception, but when it's smack in the middle of the video and we have to go through footage to find it (regardless of how long) that can get tedious, that's why I stated that. So to prevent people from doing it all the time, we require it to just have footage of the run and nothing else. A few attempts is fine but 5 or more is not necessary. (not that this is the case, just an example) If you are unsure on how to go about trimming your runs, feel free to join our discord and we can help guide you with it, but the basic answer is use a program called Shotcut. It's an editing software that is free.
  2. You submitted it to a full game category. We don't move runs to the correct categories for people. That is not our job unless directly asked and or for a specific reason (category changes, leaderboard editing, etc. (or if someone simply wants their run removed) If you are unsure of how to submit to the IL leaderboards, there is a drop-down tab right below the games name that says "Level Leaderboard" click that and find the level you want to submit to.
  3. We also don't accept IL runs from full game attempts. That alone is a rejection.
  4. We would never reject a run based off the title of your video. I know this wasn't mentioned on this thread, but I saw you mention it on another thread. Unsure if you meant us, but the title doesn't matter, though for tougher cases, it could help us identify better WHAT the run is that we are watching.

To respond to this bit: "You basically told me I put something in a spot I thought it went but you cackled and spat it back at me telling me to think about it harder if that's the best I thought....."

Not a clue where that is coming from. It certainly wasn't from me. If it was from another mod, I very much apologize for that. If you want to discuss that further you can DM me about it.

TLDR; I'm not even sure if you are even talking about this run at all, what you said here matches your rejection reason, so honestly I'm assuming. The intention is NOT to put you on blast here, only to help you if you misunderstood the reasoning behind why your run was rejected. Please feel free to contact me if you need anything further.
