Is there any way to figure out the dream bed's spawn? Or do I just have to keep hoping for that 1/5 chance?
Right now I'm trying to figure out their mechanics. Here's some info I've dug up.
When you go into the bed in Madotsuki's room a variable (variable 0052) is set to a random number between 1 and 5 which sets what bed can be slept in while dreaming. If switches 0078, 0088, 0094 or 0154 (still trying to find what those switches are for) are on, then you won't be able to go into any of the beds. If all of those switches are off, then the game sets variable 0026 to a set number for the bed you're trying to sleep in. Here are those numbers: -Madotsuki's in-dream bed: 1 (I didn't knew about this earlier) -Block world's bed: 2 -Snow world's bed: 3 -Candle map bed: 4 -The room with all of the beds: 5 If that variable (0026) is equal to the earlier set variable (0052) then it'll teleport you. The candle map can be manipulated if switch 0019 (also trying to figure out) is off. When trying to sleep in that bed and the other switches are off then it sets both 0026 and 0052 to 4 automatically teleporting you. Again, I'm looking into this and trying to find more info so don't take everything I say as fact.
tl:dr, RNG is set when sleeping and determines what bed you can use. The bed in the candle room can be used most of the time but certain switches can prevent it. More research is needed.
Well said! Is it completely random? Can we influence it? Could we view it in game so we could just soft reset each time we go to bed until we get the right value?
Until I can find what those switches are for and if we can manipulate them then you might just have to reset every time it fails (I don't fully know as I don't run this game yet). The code for the RNG basically says "Set variable 0052 to random number of 1 to 5," but without knowing what creates that random number it would be near impossible to influence it. Basically the only way to tell whether or not we can use the bed is by trial and error as the game doesn't show you what bed is usable.
Hope this helps.
