Not sure this ultimately matters all that much, but I had a random thought: for this category, time ends upon losing control at the end of Track 24... but there's nothing that says you have to not come in last on that race, right? So technically you could just sit there at the starting line and wait for an enraged yellow car to finish and you'd still be good.
I mean, it's more fun to actually race through the course while you're waiting for the yellow car, but it helps to pay close attention to when the yellow dot hits the finish line at the end of the ninth lap to make sure that you're stopping the timer at just the right time.
I posted this question in the discord server, but it seems rather sleepy there so I figured I'd ask here too. It occurred to me that in the src rules for this game, nowhere does it state that you are not allowed to do "up+a" (in this case pressing select) to force the continue/retry/save screen. It would certainly save time over doing the death warps, especially for the 100% category. Is this something that should be added into the rules, or would using select be allowed?
I have added a .zip file in the Resources section that includes all of the detailed maps you will need in order to complete the 100% category run. Lots of credit goes to Sveniroth for compiling these maps.
Also, I have updated the link for my video tutorial to direct to my YouTube version of it, as I prefer that to Twitch VODs for this sort of thing, so hopefully that will make it more accessible for you folks, as well.
I discovered today that if you do a soft reset after you get to the "The End" screen, when you start a new game, you take double the damage that you normally would in subsequent playthroughs. I'm considering possibly making this its own category, Any thoughts?
I had a question specifically about the health upgrades. The rules currently state that you need to collect three upgrades, but there are actually four. Even though collecting only three of them would get you to maximum life capacity after collecting all eight crystals, is it truly necessary to collect all four to qualify for 100%?
