Considering how much faster it is to end the game by abandoning the quest, would all bosses be a viable category?
The rules would be fairly simple. Beat the game after defeating: Elite Lab Assistant Alpha Mutant Hedgie Plyusch Belyash Natasha Dewdrop Left Right and Left
Timing ends when you enter the cutscene after the Right and Left fight.
Thoughts?
If you get the stamp house in World Crown before the 2nd Meowser, you save about 30 seconds by not needing to reload the game after you get the Character stamps in the game credits and warp to it.
Couldn't putting point grinding after the Mushrooms cut down the point grind by a few seconds? You get points every time the lava bubbles perish.
Theoretically, the lowest possible way to complete the game would be to beat the blights and Calamity Ganon only using the Bomb Rune. Otherwise, it really doesn't any more low% than Any% already is.
@CallMeEggs There is a glitch knowns as "New Game Plus Glitch" where you can beat the game and then start a new save file with the bulk of your inventory transferred.
I'd like to point out that the game makes the player fight at least one Boom Boom. You have to beat the large Boom Boom in World 5 to access the shortcut that skips Iggy and World 6, and if you don't fight him, you have to fight the flying Boom Boom in World 6 in order to progress through that world.
I think I see what you're going at with going through Iggy and World 6, but you're going to have to define it some other way because No Boom Booms is currently impossible.
I appreciate the shout out. Good work.
The only Mystery house that requires an item as far as I know is you need a Fire Flower for Mystery House Marathon torch room and maybe a cat suit for one or two of the cat challenges also in Marathon. Itemless is probably possible as a sub category and some hand waving in Marathon.
If the IL category is already so sparse, if allowing Boost Mode is what gets anyone to add to it, I would say go ahead and allow it.
The lowest possible percent would be to grab a shield for Ganon's lasers, pick up the runes because they're needed for the paraglider, and then run Any% where you beat the entire Ganon Gauntlet with the bomb rune.
Maybe you'd need a bow on the justification of knocking Waterblight down in its phase 2.
I'm pretty sure that if you're dexterous enough, you could play boost mode by yourself. In multiplayer, if you can use a pro controller or WiiMote with your feet, then cool, I guess you can multiplayer by yourself. The two things are distinct with different requirements.
Yeah, one thing I want to clarify is that I did see Romain's post that there'd be no tracking for the Individual Ninjis. My idea is for a category is all 20 Ninjis, not any of them individually.
So, with the Ninji's apparently ending after the twentieth one, coming soon, I wanted to gauge whether or not there would be interest in a category that is essentially run all twenty Ninji Speedrun Levels back to back. I'm not sure if this would be main category or category exentsion if this took off.
Basic rules: Time starts on hitting "Play" for the first Level. Time ends on the goal of twentieth level completed. Level order does not matter so long as all twenty levels are completed.
Thoughts?
Seems reasonable, although I would like to point out you can do a mini quest of either gathering a hot meal for him or finding him on the mountain and get the Warm Doublet as a present.
Multiplayer runs never took off for the Wii U because local multiplayer runs are difficult to get runners together for. There's active discussions about what will happen with the port because online multiplayer changes that dynamic.
I'm sure though that if multiplayer Wii U runs started cropping up, room would be made, but they first have to show up.
As someone that has no connection to this leaderboard’s mod team, I’d like to point out that most games need runs of multiplayer before they create multiplayer leaderboards. The fastest way to get a category created is to do it before asking.
If we find the similarities are close enough, the existing Wii U board could be reorganized the way that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze set up their board after their rerelease.
The issue I think that will keep the Wii U board and this board from being combined is online multiplayer. The biggest difference between the original and this remake is that online play makes multiplayer runs possible for groups to grind out PB’s if they have the time, a feature not shared by the Wii U version.
Also, there’s talk that some people may try to do 3D World + Bowser Fury runs, and the best place to track those would be on a board dedicated to the games that come with this rerelease.
It still gets under my skin that people call saving all the Sprixies “Warpless” instead of “All Castles” because this game utilizes map warps.
It’s too early to talk about Bowser’s Fury because we don’t know much about the game, but 3D World is good to discuss because it’s been out for seven years.
I’m pretty sure that the best way to organize will be like New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe organized their board as I posted above. It’ll also give flexibility for the online multiplayer. I’m not sure if I’d put itemless in the main or if it’d be better in the misc. tab. I guess it’ll depend on how many people take up different categories because I like the list overall.
