Been looking at a few different N64 cartridges on EBay and I may have found something I didn’t expect. There may be a 1.0 and 1.1 version of the N64 game. I’ve seen carts that have either xA and xB stamped on the back of the carts (x being numbers) but it’s hard to be completely sure since I’m going off of pictures only and haven’t even seen a real copy of the game before. Just something that may be interesting.
i have a feeling that N64 cart will have lag issues, but it might still be faster because the PS1 has the loading screen between room transitions. looks like we're gonna find out once and for all!
sorry for the 3-year late reply. but the answer is in the title screen menu. there is a settings option to increase stick sensitivity and for some reason this allows Batman to move much more quickly. also you can remap buttons for more optimized play in the settings option too.
I've been away from speedrunning for a few years now and have recently come back to it. As a result I've been looking at this game further since i stopped after my 10:32 six years ago and there hasn't been much activity in this game and I suspect that's because I was the only runner at that time and didn't spread enough information about or interest in the game. Or maybe because it was emulator-only it didn't seem like a legitimate speedrun. After coming back and seeing the WR absolutely destroyed with a 9:5x run is incredible. It makes me so happy that a barrier was broken after i had moved on from this game thinking it was done.
It seems that interest was sporadic, and runners had come and gone for this game but never stuck around due to the community being so small. So my question for anyone reading this post: is there anyone that is willing to help me optimize this game further? maybe look into version differences? I'm working on getting an N64 cartridge for the game to start doing console attempts.
If so, I'd like to maybe start up a discord and create some resources for this game. I really love BB:RotJ and always knew it was a good speedgame due to it being so short as well as RNG+skill being involved. If anyone is interested either like this post or respond so I know if putting the effort into this is worth it for me because I don't want the information I learn to not be used by others.
Hey here to answer a few questions.
First, the major differences between the N64 version and the PS1 version is load times. Each time there is a screen transition for the PS1 version, there is a loading screen that takes much longer than on N64. Second, for the PS1 version the enemies are seemingly a lot more random and door keys spawn in more random locations. This is why the N64 version is the optimal version for speedrunning.
i perform BiTE using save from Bo's house, beat King Bublin and warp to DM. yet when i talk to Goron Elder and exit and re-enter, the two guards are separated but there is still a wall blocking me from entering GM. idk what im doing wrong
is the community planning to include a bug limit/no glitch category to the leaderboards? ik the category wouldnt be too active.
also, i cant find a no glitch route anywhere for this game, could someone help me out?
which languages have faster speeds than English on the PC version?
Majora's Mask Glitchless...it's horrible
If you jump, hold a direction, and press c-down right after you jump and press it again right before you land, you will travel much faster than if you were to run, but it's only good for travelling long distances.
the title says it all. pls post information that you have here
you can do segmented runs yourself, but that's not really a leaderboard thing. you can speedrun each disk separately, but in order to do a full any% run on the leaderboard, you have to do RTA
I think that Paladin would be a decent addition to the leaderboard. It's a good place for new runners to submit something and feel good about it. Just a thought.
I've been talking to ingx24 about having a No Major Skips category. I think it would be super cool and yea the route would be like super old, but it would interesting because you could add in modern strats. Here are some rules I thought of:
No CS skips No OoB No SoT Storage No Index Warp No Alternate Exit
This is probably super similar to Bug Limit, but idk anything about Bug Limit. Anyways, I would think it was cool if NMS was a category and I would definitely run it.
I've been a speedrunner for a few years now and I've been very consistent with finding a new speedgame and then having to put a lot of time into it to learn the route and glitches and bugs and then I lose interest. I am trying to find a new speedgame that is really long, and an RPG and doesn't take a lot of effort to learn. I've come up with a few cool runs that would be in this list so here they are and anyone who wants to add to it, please do so
Earthbound Any% Glitchless Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness Pokémon Colloseum Dragon Warrior III Final Fantasy VIII-X
I created a category for Ocarina of Time called Child Link 100% and I submitted a run on YouTube and created the category on Speedruns.co. So is it technically a category since I'm the only one doing it?
