It's not unheard of for games to have a particular mod that is allowed/blessed by that game's speedrunning community for use in official attempts. We could make a mod that just tracks and publishes an api for production statistics that can be used by an external livesplit program could be implemented with no UI and would have no effect on the gameplay. Something like this seems reasonable at least. Has the factorio speedrunning community ever considered this?
