Added a misc category for coop, though I doubt the run would be considered 100%. Any% is just completing the game as quickly as you can without any other restriction. I would imagine 100% would be to complete every achievement, which is a very tedious process with a lot of death/distance grinding.
I'll keep the category up but if it's just one run being submit for it I don't think it needs a leaderboard for it.
It's very hard to do with controller is all. If there's costumes in the game and Aztec is a map then I would imagine it's 1.3, but if not then it's most likely 1.0, though I don't imagine they'd not port a map over.
You can certainly go for it on PS4! Feel free to join the Discord and ask any questions you might have there, and we'll do our best to help you out with any parts of the route that might be tough on controller
An IL leaderboard can be created when there's some interest or runs. It is a bit of work to individually put in all the levels of this game so I wasn't rushing to do it preemptively.
Due to the addition of an auto-splitter, I've decided to add a section on the leaderboard to include them once people start to use it. In the future I would like to require it/sort times by it, but for the time I would just highly recommend it so that we can have a more fair leaderboard.
There should be 52 splits for an All Pups run, though I would suggest, if you're not too attached to that category, to try out 10 Pups first? The default settings for the auto-splitter should work for that category, and it's also a lot more forgiving and a ton shorter for someone's first runs. Also, since this doesn't notify me about each post on this thread, you can feel free to shoot me a message on Twitter/Discord/Steam for faster responses if you'd like.
How about I go and create variables for you guys and you can mark if your run is which difficulty and if you used Retry Skipping?
I don't think there should be a blanket rule for what difficulty, but having people show their difficulty setting wouldn't be a bad choice either before or after the run. Also, I'll go and add something for now for the new category and you guys can give me feedback on what you'd like changed. Feel free to contact me on Twitter rather than here since I do not get notifications for new replies, only new threads.
As you're by far more active than the current moderation, and would know more about these new categories and difficulty levels than me, I decided to add you as a moderator if that's alright. Feel free to shoot me a message if not and we can get these new categories added soon. Thanks!
Hey there, I've not personally played the new patch but given the way you're describing it, given the new content and change in AI, I think a new category would be fair. It'll be up in a just a bit.
This marathon happened last year, not this year. You might be a little late for submissions.
You can do segmented runs, where you attempt each segment until you get it optimally, and stitch them together to form one run, though of course those aren't compared to single-segment runs. It can be good if you have interest in a longer game, but like me, don't really have the ability to sit and focus on one run for really really long periods.
Feel free to shoot me any questions you have when you start getting into this (oh god I didn't mean that pun I apologize so much). The forums kinda make it tough since there's no notifications but I have Discord and all those things, and there's the general speedrun.com or speedrunning discords for asking stuff as well. The community is actually fairly friendly and helpful with those sorts of things!
Hey Jane, welcome o/
There's definitely a good enough variety of games where even if you don't find you're good at one, there's plenty of others to choose from. I would even say that as long as you're having fun with it, you don't have to necessarily be the best or even great at it. Different runners tend to have different goals, so just keep that in mind and enjoy yourself c: Best of luck with your runs!
I started with an hour and 15 minute run. Please don't tell people what they can and cannot start with. It's always going to be infinitely better to find a game you enjoy, watch the run of it, and figure out if that looks like something you would be willing to put a lot of time and effort into. Sometimes a game can be fun casually but speedrunning it might not be as fun for you, and vice versa, so as a rule of thumb it's important to consider both.
The game capture for OBS has a setting in Properties to Show Overlays.
