Agreed. Most recent runs were under Uninterrupted and the category currently has the largest total of runs.

Thank you for finding this oversight. I agree we should use the final screen to submit the total number of in-game days. I'll update the rules accordingly.

Currently, there's no rule about choosing enemy factions for a scenario. You'll find existing runs that choose the factions before the run starts.

Reading it that way based on how individual levels are laid out would be Month 10, week 2, day 8, which doesn't work in the game's case as there can't be a day 8. Another example, say 236 + 126 + 336 = 698, wouldn't work either as week and day would only read up to 4 and 7, respectively.

Updated timing method for IGT. Please see the pinned thread in the forum for more information.

Massachusetts, USAadamdotpng2 months ago

For individual levels, use In-Game Time (IGT) as the main method of tracking how many days it takes to complete your run, followed by 'Time' of the actual length of your run. Use the hundredths digit for the number of months, the tenths digit for the number of weeks, and the ones digit for the number of days. Shown below: the runs are ordered by default by IGT first, then the real-time value. This means if runs were to tie by IGT, they would then be ordered by the fastest real-times like normal leaderboards.

If a run were to take over 10 months, place the tenths digit in the Seconds value. So for example, a run of 12 months, 3 weeks, and 7 days would read as 00:01.237.

As for campaigns and other runs consisting of multiple levels, IGT will be defined by the sum of the days throughout the entire run. Shown below: the run consisted of four levels that went through 11, 24, 41, and 84 days, respectively. The total number of days is 160, so the IGT will be listed as 00:00.160. And again, the runs will be organized under IGT first, then sorted by fasted real-times.

If you have any suggestions or feedback, please feel free to leave a comment.

What I can do for In-Game Days is have the default sort be the total number of days passed, then by the length of the speedrun itself.

Example shown below: I've edited Vegard's IGT time to '113 ms' for 1st month, 1st week, 3rd day. Alukret's run was finished on the 2nd day, so his run will be listed first, despite the real-time difference.

If anyone else has suggestions, please feel free to provide one. Speedrun.com probably updated at some point in the past two years so that this possible to sort through now.

It's an option because it's a version of the game that's available if someone chooses to speedrun it, same as any game with a port or remake.

Whoops. I now just added the Underground rules as an Annotation.

Massachusetts, USAadamdotpng11 months ago

I think I've set-up the new rules correctly. You will be able to submit the runs under 'Default Random Map' under Levels. Because random maps are a unique category, I have to assign their requirements as Annotations. Say if someone wanted to play an original scenario under the HoTA mod, the random map rules wouldn't make sense for these levels, so these shouldn't be subcategories for all levels.

Not many of the HoMM III runs/categories are active now. A couple of years ago, people were asking for custom rules and additional categories for runs. Back then, the website didn't have the features for implementing further categories. Even afterwards, people stopped asking for it and moved on to different projects.

Heroes Chronicles is a stand-alone series from HoMM III. It can't be run through the HD Mod, but someone has developed a separate HD Mod for Chronicles, as I mentioned in this thread: https://www.speedrun.com/heroes_chronicles/thread/3dh85

I haven't looked into running the campaigns through the main game, but my opinion is the run wouldn't be valid. Unless the campaigns carry over the same bonuses/stats/characters as the original campaigns, instead use the Chronicles HD Mod.

If you can run and record Chronicles successfully, then by all means. For HoMM III, we allow the HD Mod due to ease-of-use and reliability to play/record due to how old the game is.

If anyone's interested in running the Heroes Chronicle games, turns out someone created an HD Mod similar to the main HD+ Mod for HoMM III. I was wondering for a while if there'd be an extension to the HD+ Mod for HC because the supposed workaround to run the game under 16-bit color mode in Windowed Mode never worked. Instead there's a separate installation that requires HoMM III, the HD mod, and the HC games.

Again, if someone's interested in running the games, let me know so I can appropriate the categories when you submit a run.

This should be all set now. I've submitted the runs from the Main Leaderboards to the Level Leaderboards and removed those categories from the Main. Notes and submission data are there as well.

When removing a category from the Leaderboard, there's a warning that all runs in that category are just gone. What I found out is if I reject a run, it's technically saved in the Moderation Hub (for whatever reason), so at least there's some safety if there's a need of moving records of runs.

Ok, I'll get around to it sometime today.

I had a discussion pertaining to this a while back before the leaderboards redesign. If I recall, the issue of moving those runs to the Level Leaderboards was it would be me submitting the run and not the original user. If that was fixed, or if it's alright to ignore it, then I'll move those runs over to the Level Leaderboards and remove the ones under Misc.

Annoyingly, I can't just change categories from Full Leaderboards to Level. I have to resubmit each run individually and include the information of the original submission. But that's just my gripe so let's just focus on if it's alright to submit runs under a mod's username.

I can set-up a separate page for fheroes2 as a Modification page (ironic because it is technically not a mod, but is the closest category) for HoMM2 if anyone's interested. It will need its own page based on the github FAQ.

I just ask to possibly hold off on runs as it is in active development; there's currently 469 various issues to fix and is in its version 0.9.10 release. As well, I'll need to take time to play it once it's in a ready state, so when v.1.0.0 comes out.

When I ran my game (years ago), I used OBS. There's a screen capture feature that let's you record a portion(s) of your screen for your livestream. I kept my game in windowed mode (I think 800x600) and LiveSplit on the same screen and was able to do it that way. In LiveSplit, I know you can set inputs as global to work when your playing. Set your combinations of keys to something not used for the game (like CTRL+Right Shift+L) to start your timer, set your splits, etc.

Technically second run in the category as @Alukret's was first to be verified.

Made the changes. Sorry for the wait, my priorities are elsewhere right now.
