Just a quick update I'll leave up here for a week or 2 about the changes to 100% rules:
-
The requirement for obtaining all the Purple chests has been removed due to the changes in the most recent update which makes those chests respawn just as the red one's do. The permanent items you can obtain from the Purple chests, such as the charms, heart pieces, etc., are still required.
-
Scrolls are now required since they take up a permanent slot in your inventory, even when you have 0. This has been this way for awhile now, but I figured I would throw it in this post as well.
I recommend reading the rules carefully for this category so that you don't miss anything when attempting to do this run.
Another patch, another leaderboard update:
-
Patch Leaderboards have been updated and merged to 1.0.2+ and 1.0.1. Before, we had a different leaderboard for each patch released with the game. Since there have not been many major exploits used in runs since Patch 1.0.1 (Barrier Skip), it only made sense to merge 1.1.1 and 1.2.0 with 1.0.2+ and keep 1.0.1 by itself.
-
The "Copy" variable has been added to prepare for the physical release later this year. For now, please select "Digital." Assuming this game will work just as any other game with a physical copy works, you will be able to run this game on Patch 1.0.1 again by putting the game into your Switch while it's not connected to the internet. In which case, this is why the "Copy" variable has been added, as well as previous patch leaderboard being left up. More updates and rules on this will be clarified when that time comes.
-
Impa, Aria, Shadow Link, Shadow Zelda, and Fredderick have all been added. Same rules apply to them as they did with the original 4 characters. Skull Kid will be added later when that DLC drops.
-
100% will now require you to get all 6 Scrolls. This is because the scrolls now take up a permanent slot in your inventory. Before, when you had 1 scroll and consumed it, the scroll would disappear from your inventory. Now, the scroll remains there after consumed.
Feel free to ask any questions below!
Hey runners!
It's been awhile since I've posted anything here, and some of the other forums were quite out of date, so I've removed them to post this new update here to avoid any confusion.
-
Brace Yourself Games is still currently updating Cadence of Hyrule with major patches. Because of this, keeping the leaderboards up to date is not an easy task. As glitches continue to be discovered, they also continue to be patched out, making some of the submitted times from older patches for certain categories impossible to beat on newer patches. This is why each patch is now its own sub-category. Until there is a better system brought to my attention, this is how it has to be.
-
New major patches also brings in new categories to the game, such as Octavo being a playable character and the addition of Dungeon Mode. The categories for these new additions are up on the leaderboards as of today, so feel free to submit any runs for them. It is known that there will be more game modes added in the not-so-distant future. Based on what they are, they will be added to the leaderboards accordingly.
-
It was brought to my attention very recently that there has been some confusion on Seeded and Unseeded. To simply put it:
Unseeded: https://www.speedrun.com/coh/full_game Seeded: https://www.speedrun.com/cohce/full_game
If you are still confused by this, please ask by commenting below or ask in the Discord. It doesn't get anymore complicated than that.
- If there are any categories that you do not see that you wish to see added, you need to record a run and message the Twitch or YouTube link to me on Discord at Zambee#0001 with a set of rules to go along with the run. There are too many possible categories in this game to be able to have everything up there, so right now it has been narrowed down to the obvious most common types of runs.
If you have any questions, please ask below or message me on Discord @Zambee#0001 or on Twitter @ZambeeSpeedrun.
