Due to my lack of interest, real life getting in the way, my inactivity in the speedrunning scene for a prolonged period of time, my lack of experience with the game itself and other reasons I wish to not disclose publicly, I have decided it is time for me to step down as a moderator for this game.
I will continue to verify runs of this game for now especially with the newly added 1 loop category for the Arcade version however I will step down no later than the end of January 2024. That is my hard deadline. If you wish to contact me about moderator privileges for the purpose of stepping up and replacing me, please DM me. I will try to check in to SRC daily to keep up with DMs. Thank you for your understanding.
Say no more. Category has been added!
Thank you! I ended being wrong with my assertion there actually. Gold did check through a past broadcast of your attempts on this game and discovered it was the Steam version of the game as well but thanks for clarifying on that!
Keep in mind we were unable to neither tell what emulator was used in this run nor what official PC release it came from. If you are able to tell us here, that'll be fine. Run still looks legit either way so congratz on the PB haiguro!
Time re-adjusted to 11:43 based on timing method.
A couple of resets here. Run officially starts at 1:12 of the video.
@ThriftBytes That's a tougher one to address, I'm assuming you are talking about a modded european mega drive. I would imagine, it doesn't change the lag aspect of the hardware (or at least i would hope not) however it may not pass the performance difference. However modding european hardware is not very common so I can't see this becoming a big issue to simply regard it as part of OG hardware. If it does, We'll adust accordingly. For now, put it in the OG hardware section.
@Marble_Candy I see what you're getting at. At some point I'll inject that change. Thank you.
Don't worry nothings changed. You can start with as many lives as you want. We just decided to add this to the additional rules for all categories so people stop asking lol.
Yes we are aware that starting with 9 lives instead of the default 3-5 requires a cheat code but we are going to allow it since we have allowed it in the past plus better accessibility for new runners to jump in.
I forgot the reasoning. I had one but apparently it wasn't that important if I already forgot about it. If I do remember I'll let you all know but I see your point. Pretend I said nothing about the credits as well then. They're not necessary either as of current.
With the recent removal of the reset rule, the PB submission video only needs to contain the actual complete PB run itself in full. Failure to show the PB run in full will result in rejection. A reset is not necessary to show anymore.
Please also refrain from submitting a VOD with multiple runs and resets attached from this moment onwards as well.
This change should hopefully make things easier for both runners and mods alike.
While @oDSFM is right, I don't think that is an excuse for any mod. If we mods can't do our duty, we should be passing the torch to someone else who can devote the time.
Last time I suggested adding more mods though I was met with "the mod team is too bloated already". We'll see if that happens again to me. Also keep in mind, I can not do anything about the Super Mods. Only they themselves can step down. We have added @bradyo2 to help out for the time being.
I will apologize for my absense as well. I'll try and stay on top of things again.
Thank you for bringing up the concerns about inactivity.
Typically I do not approve runs with no game audio as game audio is often a measure that is needed to detect splices.
I made an exception this time though because of the input display and the fact it is a new runner's first shake at a completed run so I gave the benefit of the doubt that this is very likely legit.
In the future though, you should look towards ensuring the game audio is properly working.
Thanks and happy grinding. Game is alot of fun.
Accidentally slipped my mind that this is the US version, not the JP version. I've corrected it now.
For whatever reason, bilibili wasn't working correctly at the time I originally rejected the run. Now it seems to be working and I've had the chance to look it over properly now.
The fire rate is faster due to a trick that is used by tapping a direction on the d-pad. Both versions are capable of this.
Here are the true differences between the 2 versions:
-US version can carry an extra bomb on normal mode.
-Text is somehow faster on the US version by about 4 seconds.
-The sage manip timing is different in the US version based on my experiences with the game. I have no real timing for that version myself so you would have to play test around with that but there is a manip to it as well.
So yes theoretically, the US Version is faster but the kicker is that frame timing of sage manip is a killer on that version as opposed to the Japanese version where much of the sage manip timing is centered around sound cues with the music.
Sounds like the settings were changed and it affected the performance of the game in the lag department.
Oof. Yeah that's something to keep in mind for any new runners that play on emulator as well.
Don't change from default settings.
It will likely create an undesirable effect that wouldn't be allowed to stand on the leaderboard. Retroarch (with the proper cores) is widely accept in the Sega community for accuracy reasons but even retroarch is not immune to that rule.
