United StatesTiming starts on the frame that the cursor clicks down on the play button. This is the finger on the hand of the cursor pressing down. For categories where the game ends (finish the game, all messages, tv show), its the frame that the screen turns black where the timer ends. For categories where the end is marked by a certain photo (3 crickets, nothing%) the timer ends on the frame that the black border in the corners of the camera disappear. This can be timed with youtube frame timer for the exact milliseconds but if the run is longer than 2 minutes 50 seconds you dont need to be that exact.

GUYS in the new speedrun mod patch you can now no longer have to worry about unconventional ways of mashing! You can set up any keybind to mash when held and it mashes at the same level for everyone, cutting out any difficulties involving trying to get the best mashing speed.
for my runs i use a keybind where I set scroll wheel to mouse click, essentially making it so that for nvm and for the last yellings I dont have to worry about timing it, but yeah thats about it
