My mom introduced me to the show friends and I got hooked to it. And when it came to picking a profile pic, I just used Joey's face from the famous meme "Joey's Delayed Reaction" and it stuck with me ever since. I did make a new profile pic that I use for my yt channel but I'm just too lazy to change my src profile pic at this point.
Well there's no restrictions if you want to make your own categories for you to run just for fun. But if you have an idea that you believe could be implemented into a leaderboard as an official category, then I would suggest contacting one of the leaderboard mods and propose your idea to them. It would be even better if you are able to record a run for that category as well since most of the time, leaderboard mods won't add categories unless there's some interest put into it from the runners requesting.
@Opalwreck you can try looking into shorter runs if you wanna have a submitted run on a leaderboard. But like Ivory said, you can still be involved with the game's speedrun community even if you don't submit runs.
Gum Ball Run is a FREE multiplayer racing platformer where you race other players in worlds with randomly generated obstacles. Even though its main focus is multiplayer, there's also a singleplayer campaign mode which is our main focus in speedrunning this game. There's also a category for speedrunning the randomly generated worlds if you're interested in a more rng heavy run.
The speedruns are very short and accessible for everyone who prefer either keyboard or controller. Even if you don't plan on speedrunning this game, I would still recommend this game on a casual standpoint since it's a fun game to play with friends or other players online. So come on give it a try!

P.S Highly recommend if you're a big fan of balls
I also speedrun on a laptop with no dual monitor setup, I mainly just play my game on windowed mode and have livesplit on the side
My goal would be to get more runs going for the games I've recently started speedrunning which is Lil Gator Game and Lunistice . Other than that, I don't really have any goals for other games.
I'm also interested in playing and potentially speedrunning newly release titles in 2023.
You don't need to show the 1-1 resets, the reason why we request that you show us the save file is to confirm that you're doing the run on a new save. Obviously, if you reset a couple of times, your save file time is not gonna match the actual time of your runs, but if the difference isn't that significant, it's safe to assume you that you did perform the run on a brand new save file.
It depends on the game, some leaderboards only allow runs from specific emulators while others might allow it.
Try resizing your scene to fit into the frame
Well since you're running Ori, it's highly recommended you setup livesplit since you're able to use the autosplitter/load remover functions.
An autosplitter will automatically read the game's memory and split according to the game.
A load remover will detect loading screens and will automatically pause the timer when loading to keep the runs fair.
In fact, there's a written guide on the game's leaderboard page showing how to setup livesplit for Ori. Here's the guide: https://www.speedrun.com/ori_de/guide/k29yz
Here's the link for the livesplit component that @SioN mentioned btw: https://www.nightgamedev.com/sgl
I would recommend getting controller grips like these This should be able to help you grip comfortably while your hands are sweaty.
Ball At Work is a "Free to Play" ball-physics platformer available on Steam. The free version of the game only comes with 18 Levels but you can unlock up to 40 levels if you pay for the 2.00$ DLC.
The game has very simple controls which makes the game very easy to be picked up by new runners + the in game leaderboards allow you to compete with other players in IL runs. This game is also very speedrun-friendly since it has a "Speedrun Mode" with a built in In-Game Timer + Splits so you don't have to bother setting up livesplit and manually splitting when running the game.
The community isn't too active nowadays but they're still willing to help you get started running the game. The speedrun is more on the shorter side with the "Free to Play" version taking around 5 minutes and DLC taking around 15 minutes but there's also even shorter categories where you beat only a certain amount of levels usually taking under 1 minute.
That's pretty much I have to say about this game, be sure to try it out if you're looking for a short game that's decently competitive.

@ShadyDev What's the problem with this? He's just promoting a speedrunning competition in the "TOURNAMENT AND RACES" section, which is the part of the forums that you are meant to promote "TOURNAMENTS AND RACES".
