If anyone else sees this and there are any other consoles that this game is supported on, can you let me know and I'll add them as supported consoles on the leaderboards

Yeah this is also good enough. I'll update the rules to say that

I didn't know cart ride around nothing was supported on console. As long as you can get the spawn cart button to appear on console to start the run, and then have chat on so I know when you finish the run, I guess it would still be fine.

That's the games way of keeping track of time. The game starts its in game timer as soon as you reset your character or spawn into the game. For the purposes of this leaderboard and for simplicity, I had time start when you spawn your cart when I originally submitted this game. It's easier that way, and it makes sense as the run really starts when you spawn the cart. The run shouldn't start when your character spawns in my opinion. But if you really care about your in game time, reset your character right before you start a run to get it as low as possible.

I definitely don't want to be looking up answers running the game myself as it ruins the fun and the spirit for me as well. I just wanted bring this up as its always been a concern for me running these trivia games like wof and jeopardy.

How I see the other wof games on SRC go is that they allow calculators and looking up the answers like for example the NES and SNES versions. I kinda get the appeal in running those games that way cause it's about going fast like you said. But I've always been turned away cause it does ruin the spirit of wof for me too. I figured the other wof games were like that too but I guess not for this one (at the moment at least).

Yeah this is very tough to deal with man, really any speedgames where you can look up answers is subject to this cheating. If other games and game show speedgames don't really have a problem with it like you said, I think we should probably just leave it as is and go by an honor system. You can also make a sub category for the purpose of looking up answers/getting help like how the other wof games are. I know I just said I didn't like doing that, but I'd probably run it from time to time tbh.

Actually I just googled PS2 puzzle solutions, but I can't even find any sites that have databases online, same for the wii version. So I don't think we have to worry about cheating as much as I'd thought. So I think we can just keep everything as is. And honestly I don't think that having someone in chat give someone an answer is that big of a deal, because you still have to do the inputs to solve the puzzle yourself. Though it also kinda gives an unfair advantage at the same time since the more viewers you have, the more help you have so there is that.

Those are my thoughts. I may end up trying some runs out very soon thanks to this discussion so thank you for your time and clarification!

Hi, I saw this just now on the front page of SRC, and I actually had thoughts about running this game as this is one of my favorite wheel of fortune games alongside the Wii one. However I thought it would not be fun and unfair to run as someone can cheat by looking the answers up. But now looking at the rules (for this wof game at least) and seeing that no outside help is allowed, it raises some questions.

1. How are you supposed to enforce this if the runner has no webcam or mic? They can be looking answers up without anyone knowing. I know that its obvious to tell if they just start solving the puzzle right away, but someone can just pretend to figure out what it is by filling in a little bit of the puzzle and then look up the answer and solve it. Only way I see around it is if you require a webcam and mic to submit.

And what if by chance you just happen to know the puzzle without any letters and without any outside help and you don't have webcam on? Its only happened to me once, but one time I got the category "movies", and in the first line there were two dots next to the first two letters, so I immediately knew it was "E.T. The Extra Terrestrial" just by seeing the length of each word in the puzzle.

2. What exactly defines outside help? Is it only looking up the answers online? Lets say I was streaming the game, and someone in chat just randomly says the answer before I figured it out. Would that make the run invalid? I guess it would since any help isn't allowed according to the rules. Speaking of which, you would never know I had any help if I omitted chat from the PB video.

Idk this just seems like a hard rule to enforce and easy to figure out loopholes. I understand that this was the best way to word the rule to prevent cheating but it just seems very easy for someone to cheat in this game unfortunately without requiring strict rules.

I never actually unlocked the rainbow cart so idk if there is any speed difference with it at all. Is it any different compared to the other carts besides the color? If it is, I will add it as a sub category.

Oh yeah of course! I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Feel free to do your gamepass cart run and submit it under Any% for now if I still haven't added it. I will regroup it to the appropriate category when I see it. All the same rules from Any% would apply to gamepass cart runs

HUGE NEWS!!! The update that I suggested to the dev on twitter actually happened and now you can choose different carts you have unlocked! This means now I can make grey and golden cart (and all the other carts) its own subcategories! I will get to that when I can but for now you can submit your runs under the current Any% category and I will regroup the run to the appropriate category when I get around to making them

Any% is now up, no gamepass carts allowed or improved stability gamepass allowed as I want to keep it fair for everyone and having people buy gamepasses is an unfair advantage. If there is a demand I can make it a separate category. Same thing with the gamepass carts. Make sure to read the rules for more info

I do have an update: I got in contact with the dev of the game on twitter and suggested an update to the game where you can change between your unlocked carts and the gamepass carts. They said it was an interesting idea and they would consider doing it. Big win for us speedrunners if they do it, allows us to change between golden and grey cart easier and we can make them separate categories. For now I will do like I said and just make an any% category where both the grey cart and golden cart will be accepted. No gamepass carts like the race and hacker cart as those have a huge advantage obviously. Those can be its own category. I will try to get around to that tomorrow, I apologize to everyone waiting

Good to see interest. No one replied with any category ideas though, so I guess later I will make a golden cart category as thats the only one I had in mind. I would make a grey cart category, but once you beat the game once without dying it goes away forever and you get the golden cart. I guess I can group them together and it would be up to the runner to unlock the golden cart to get the timesave with it. (and yes there is a difference between golden and grey cart. golden cart speeds up and slows down faster)

sooo I just found out that this game was finally added to src after I submitted this game a year ago and honestly I don't know what to say. I'm shocked that I got an email saying this was added after so long. I don't know what happened to the point where it took them a year to get to it I thought it was rejected but better later than never I guess. The thing is the hype to run this game died a LOOONG TIME AGO in my opinion and I have not played it since last year. I had categories planned out but since it never got accepted until now I kinda forgot my plans for this game. I really have no interest in doing anything with this game until there are other people out there that show they are interested too.

So this is your chance right here! If you're reading this and would like to run it or have a run already, let me know and reply to this with some category ideas/your run and I will add the category when I have the time

(EDIT: Also it seems like the game has changed a lot compared to when I first ran it. More obstacles have been added meaning I cannot even submit my old run because it would be unfair to everyone else)
