Please upvote and show your support to have them consider making this an option directly through steam. Currently as the game is being developed, atm speedrunning the game and wanting to track it via boards is ultimately pointless currently since its going to lead to some very exhausting management and changing constantly as the game evolves without being able to sort via certain build versions/patches.
Steam Discussion Post Currently the lasted version 0.5.0.4 removed the ability to drop progression/ key items or any items in general to skip and bypass for example the chase and stealth section which current voids and makes all existing runs prior to the change not currently able to be competitive and worth listing on the boards as is.
Items dropped are now move into the player bag once the cutscene triggers, which Understandably this prevents major issues for casual and general experience for the game. But I want to make sure this is known and hopefully the Devs will address this and support the hobby among other good reasons to have the ability to do so.
IGT btw on the results screen is reflective of RTA including all cutscenes times, the first chapter time will always include the currently unskippable elevator down cutscene when it starts, this is +10 secs on RTA when stopping personal timers once the cutscene triggers. TDLR IGT times are very accurate since the cutscenes are rendered in engine, this time however will not be accurate to RTA if the run was not done, deathless / without loads or restarts on checkpoints etc.
Extensions board in general is not kept nearly as up to date as the main board, so it would be helpful to point out things directly to us that needs to be looked at. I'm on here frequently enough I will see any messages or posts regarding things.
@GrittgamingIRE if you can send me the links to the runs your talking about I can fix that and update the map list. Good chance one of the other mods didn't notice it was not the current level and forgot to add it.
No production sounds incredibly ludicrously difficult if not impossible and probably won't ever see any traction for that reason.
No unit deaths is hard as it is and has been done but not by many people since its still very difficult and there is some very specific exceptions that would have to be made.
I'm very not keen on the idea of the other challenges because they really just kill the experience of the games in general but with some refinements or different ideology approaches they could be made into something interesting and maybe fun to do.
Just don't be expecting many people if anyone to be that interested in those challenge ideas.
@MaiTheRunner All the current rules can be found on the board for the game and categories. On screen timer is not required but nice to see if possible to provide or splits attached with the run work just as good, They only serve to provide additional and faster verification of submitted runs.
As for the second questions not sure what you mean by "optimal ring setups" unless you talking about the equip-able ones in which there is no definitive answer since it depends on the category and your play style/approach to the stages. Generally speaking rings that boost your attack damage output and movement are easy ways to save time, Berserk Rings will allow you to stay in the highest damage forms which further maximize your damage output for the categories that they apply to such as NG+ runs as you would not have access to them besides the ones I have previously mentioned that can be obtained easily through New Game runs via the shop when then unlock through progress.
If you have more specific questions I will do my best to answer them.
Just make sure that your submission recording includes all the requirements that are listed out and that you filled out the info according.
This would be the run your talking about: https://www.speedrun.com/rev2raid/runs/0y64k00m But yes the time would be 7'57". Forgot to add the 2-5 stage time to the submission time and no one even checked the actual math to see that the stage times added up exactly.
your best bet is do do the runs then tag them in the notes/info field that its a glitchless run so the mods can look at the run and see that message and deal with the submission accordingly. Most times boards will not have every category listed till there is at least a few runs to add to them as to limited the amount of empty categories to keep boards more organized and easier to navigate.
If and when SRDC gives us better moderation tools and functions for board management and specifically for IL's will be when we can look at future changes without the headache and mess that it is currently to setup and maintain them.
The only one thing I would be willing to do in this case is to allow runners to tag their runs if they use DLC weapons or not which will allow an optional filter for those wanting to compare top times with or without them to their preference when looking at the boards. But it will not be enforced as a separate at this time.
Game is IL based and DLC weapons do not make a player better then another. Excluding them makes no sense, and Were not gonna exclude Console runners either. There is no p2w issues with DLC in the game. (majority of the stuff is cosmetic and even outside those rare cases they are not better then other alternatives as the game relies more on your class and play style then any specific weapon)
Mutators will continue to not be allowed in runs because it makes it far to difficult to deal with and moderate a base line for them.
IL based games and runs like this are treated as NG+ always so any equipment, levels etc are permitted so long as they are apart of the game and officially released and available to get by anyone who owns the game without modify or cheating to gain or acquire an advantage.
The game is not even out yet, and why would anyone add a category for a limited timed online only beta? Seems like the dumbest idea considering the actual game will be released soon.
If someone was to do a run of all maps then we could look at adding it but, it won't be added before there is people willing to try and work it out and discuss it more. The other issue with all maps is that new maps keep coming out so that invalidates any runs that do not include the new map(s). There has been discussion about grouping sets of maps together, but there was not enough talk about how and the other logistics with doing those kinds of runs. So we are open to the idea of more then IL runs but its just not as simple for a IL structured game like this.
Connect a streaming service and record the gameplay footage right from the console via the sharing options. You can do this for Youtube or Twitch and other services that the platform supports. You can find plenty of information on how to set that up, keep in mind that doing so for a decent stream/recording to be uploaded you should have decent net or else it will suffer some severe quality issues that being said its a nice alternative for those with just consoles and a wired connection to them.
Awesome run and introduction to some more tech behind weapon swapping besides the reloads. Fire Swapping is some huge time saves with Rockets, which I completely wrote off from earlier testing never thought to explore it more with swapping.
The additional setup for characters to optimize which ones are used for each mission clearly shows some deeper thought into loadouts and such as well.
I am also surprised at some of the AFK strats used to block the enemy AI from spawns which just make those timed missions so much easier and basically free.
Incredible run even past that that minor time loss from the crash.
Several interested runners within the community have suggested allowing breaks during attempts as well, so this was added as a secondary topic for now.
You have been told multiple times and everyone else that if you want to see a new level be added that is currently missing please submit the run and note the actual level in with the run is for so that we see and know to add it correctly.
Please do not continue to make posts each time you say you want a new level added that was release. Just make sure the besides the level being summited incorrectly that everything else is correctly filled in and it will be added and the run verified.
