Currently we have no runs that allow multiple players with jolly coop, although it could be fun they are not significantly different from the base categories and we haven't had many people do multiplayer runs as it is.
If you do a run post a link it it here or on either discord and get other people interested!
Just to add the one last bit to this to make sure it makes sense
-We will add any interesting category if there are at least three runs if it done by different people
-The main glitch (Karma cashing) just requires people to not having to grind food which for the non-100% runs is a very big deal for just allowing runners to play the hard sections and not have to sit in outskirts for a few cycles
-Many runs (such as most Hunter runs) don't even require glitches for a good time, don't worry too much about what any% does for the most part it will always be weird and the other categories exist to compensate for that
-I would love to add a glitchless category, specifically the Survivor story run was normally glitchless in the base game leaderboards as well as enforcing a route that is common for a first playthrough. The 100% runs EverMoon is doing also has completely changed up the routing for 100% and would be very interested to see where it goes, but until 3 people do runs I cannot in good intention add glitchless things as I don't see the support for it
-If anything doesn't make sense I would love to hear more on this and what ideas people have for categories, runs with an unorthodox route or are glitchless have a great potential to be fun but I want to see the support for it before I can add it here
if you can show a picture of your remix general settings it should be there at the top left
Yes as recap we updated the settings and will not be allowing the burdens either
Except for the Doomed Burden of course
I have been thinking about this for a while now but we had no one interested in this at the time, I have now added the option to select no perks
Hello!
We have been planning our next speedrun event involving Downpour for a while now and are now just opening up our run submissions to the event.
The marathon will be a charity event for Rainforest Trust and will go on from the 7th to the 10th of July
Any speedruns, scoreruns, or otherwise showcases of the game are the big push for the event
The event will be restreamed on the RainWorldSpeedrun Twitch channel and coordinated in the Rain World event discord here: https://discord.gg/D3Yy3sYx2v
If interested in participating in the event here is the submission form: https://forms.gle/x38AZMyaA1fKV6ZZ6
The submission form will be open till June 11th at midnight UTC-5
Any questions about the event can be asked here or in the rain world event discord
We will update it accordingly for any runs before the rule was defined
Yes very good point,
We have decided that you do not need her to put it on (dont' need to go to pebbles)
All potential characters are now added as options
Also name is changed to cloak retrieval to better represent the in game name
Time will end on you dropping the cape on the platform moon is on
Potentially yes, but we would need to see more runs doing to food quest to be sure
Its going to be a while before the specific timings will matter in terms of optimization
Otherwise you can always use the crafting system to your advantage in a lot of situations as soon as you have a mass of items
In the event there is another category that you do not see listed here or if there is rule listings that are improperly set let me know!
Currently, we are just opening up submissions with v1.9 with just remix here and More Slugcats on the specific downpour leaderboard so right now currently no we don't' know any reason to run 1.5 over the recent 1.9
Mod note: You had the time with loads correct but the time without loads was not, I corrected it so don't worry about it for this run
From now on there will be a "Time without loads" and a "Time with loads" spots to put in times, you will fill the "Time without loads" with the time it takes to go from filling the circle to the transition into the void sea, the part where the camera starts following you. The "Time with loads" will be from when the circle fills till when "Loading" is visible when ascending as usual
For now runs will still require ascending despite the time not effecting rankings on speedrun.com this may change in the coming weeks
If there are other questions please direct them to me
From the influx with run submissions lately it is clear that some clarifications need to be made as to what needs to be in a submission video so under "View Rules" on the leader-board the "Game Rules" tab will now show the following:
Runs should show gameplay footage where the "new game" circle is being filled up to when "loading..." is shown
A timer is appreciated but is unnecessary for submissions
No mods or cheat engine will be used at any time, except for mod specific speedruns (which depending on popularity may get its own page in the future)
For Top Three Times it will be required that that at no point is game audio muted
In the end the moderators will make a decision at their own discretion if a run is to be rejected or not
If you have any questions or if these or if you can't understand these or any specific category rules please message a Speedrun.com mod in #meta-and-tech on the community discord: https://discord.com/invite/rainworld, or in the forums on this page
Effectively all that is needed is a video showing the run from file creation at circle fill and loss of player control when the final cut-scene starts
The fastest three times for any given category will require audio throughout and should show the entire game screen
For the categories with few runs in them the moderators will verify runs at their own discretion
If there is anything that doesn't make sense with the new rules to anyone feel free to message me on the Rain World discord about it or post about it here
Hello
I would recommend you ask this question in the Ori discord here: https://discordapp.com/invite/aSz79M4
Yes the game is still active but everyone runs the DE version of the game not the vanilla version here: https://www.speedrun.com/ori_de
Personally I would like to say that the game is easy to learn but hard to master as well but that is different for everyone.
Hope that helps!
The starting and ending times have been polled in the Rain World discord and when the "new game" circle fills up is the new start time, while when "loading..." fades in, is the end time.
All posted/ fastest times from all runner have been changed appropriately (barring v1.01 times).
If there are any questions on this change or any other changes feel free to talk about them here or in the #speedruns tab in the Rain World discord.
Between 5p% and GS% for the two sound good to me (GS% meaning Guardian skip%). I feel as though both are subcategories of any% to begin with since one allows a major glitch, if you could call it that, and the other does not.
Also after looking at the guardian skip more the run seems like it wouldn't be a whole lot of fun since it all hinges on one very hard trick at the end in which if you fail the run is over. Hopefully a consistent setup can be found, this is just my input on what I have seen, unsure how far personally I want to go with this game.
I love the idea of glitchless and I know I haven't run in a while but this and a one life category has to be the ones I want to see when I can run again. I agree with Brynhold with saying that double bash is too big a glitch to have in glitchless. UI disabling is in the game right? So why make it banned, unless you want Xbox to have a fair advantage in the game (which might be preferable). Bash and dash gliding seems weird to me if it should be banned (haven't done much with it personally), and frog walk/ level up manipulation seems fine as the game mechanic allows it (if you want a pure story-line type run that would be different) anything else seems valid. This is just my opinion I would love to hear a lot more from people who do these glitches more than I have.
