So the hunch about Chief Sal being in place before fighting Screetch was wrong. Darn. Next request: find a way to get through boulders without pushing them from the other side :D Several would be interesting, but mainly the one below gorilla woods (near the crystallized guy) and the one to the right of the god egg.
Awesome! I need to start thinking out the quick exits from pinball sections. I tried to use a slug from that area, but forgot you could exit again to the left. I couldn't get there in time exiting to the right.
Cool stuff! Love the skip hunting.
Now if only we can find some skips on the Unders area. I've looked around and can't really find much. My best theory is that if you can get across this damn hole before Screetch that you could actually skip the boss fight entirely: .
NPC's seem to just appear where they're supposed to be when you get to a location. I have a hunch that chief Sal will be waiting for you in position if you could get up to him using the bumper that's just across this gap. However, you don't have time to get a slug there and even with wiggling/quick turning/shove-it I can't seem to get Yoku across that gap.
Very nice getting through the steam with the slug! I also really like using the shove-it to get into the third cannon there. That'll save a good chunk of time!
The beeline glitch is super interesting. I've never attempted to control them when the beeline is 'homing in' on you. If it could somehow launch you far enough upward to get to the very top of Ivory Peaks (where chief Boon is) it could be VERY useful there. Skip collecting the beanstalk parts, etc. You'd still need to obtain your sootling at some point unless we can figure out a way to get into the kazoo cave without using that sootling flower. It'll be interesting to see where else this could be used.
Hi Peewi, was hoping that you can appoint some additional mods so that runs can be more easily verified. I'd nominate myself for one :)
I agree, but the VOD should also require showing the save file at the end after skipping credits so that the 100% can be better verified.
It's entirely possible to fight the bosses out of order. There's even an achievement for it. You'd be surprised with some of the crazy movement you can do if you watch one of the completed runs!
I'd be very surprised if it wasn't possible. However, picking up the first wallet in the chest by the bunny is pretty quick. You'd probably need to spend more time within the pinball areas collecting fruit if you are always capped to 100.
Honestly that skip might be more trouble than it's worth since the main benefit is saving 100 fruit. hinducow's beeline up to Ivory Peaks saves you 50 fruit already (don't have to get the toolbox(80), but have to get to the beelines in town(30)). Very probable that you'll have enough cash to open up the beeline comfortably.
Edit: Actually saves 80 fruit since if you get onto the beeline again after the leash you skip the ore section, which requires 30.
My route currently does Ivory Peaks, Skullgang, then Unders already. Using this to get up to Ivory Peaks should be a lot faster! Bummer about having to go pick up the leash though... Good call hinducow! I was thinking too small in my original post.
I totally don't remember the names of the chiefs lol
In Peewi's run he accidentally launches into the town-skullgang beeline with a slug after crossing the waterfall area. I believe you should be able to reliable 'hijack' this beeline by doing the following:
In town, spend the 30 fruit to open the bumper which gets you up to the beeline access point. Go down the pipe to the small pinball area. Grab the slug from this location. Go back up the pipe into town. Use the bumper you unlocked to get up to the beeline access. Launch straight up into the further right beeline.
For any route that travels right out of town toward the divefish this could potentially be used as a reliable way to get there quickly.

I'm not familiar with one, but it would be nice. Peewi do you have any interest in starting a discord? I could make one it not.
Looks like it's still there to me :) https://www.speedrun.com/Yokus_Island_Express/run/yd3q3k0z
