As the title says, should it? The positives is it cuts down on the run length, reduces the amount of luck needed, and they are really cheap. You get one after every completed run and if you don't complete a run, they are only 50 bright dust from Eververse.

If you answer no, I would like to know why but you don't need to say why.
I'll be adding the ILs and the like here in the next few days. As many of you may know, I've been busy grinding seeing as how I'm really high on the power rankings right now.
PLEASE LEAVE THE NAME OF ADVENTURES AND MISSIONS IN THE REPLIES IF YOU REMEMBER ANY AS I DO NOT KNOW ALL THE NAMES. I WOULD PREFER IF YOU LISTED THEM IN THE ORDER YOU UNLOCK THEM
So we've gone about deciding that timing in Destiny 2 will be different from previously due to Destiny 1's timer becoming more and more inaccurate as time goes passed.
So lemme start out by saying that the timer you see in game at the end of missions DOES NOT MEAN ANYTHING! Yes! the timer you see in game literally does not matter. All timing will be done manually, and no, you don't need a timer on screen.
So before you say "Oh now PC has an unfair issue due to load time", no they don't and you will find out why soon. There will be things we will be manually taking out of your final time. These things will be: Mid mission loading screens, and cutscenes. Wipe screens will count towards your final time. Timing begins when you see your screen fade in at the mission start and time ends when mission complete appears on your screen
Update: Your final time on in game timer and full time flying in from orbit is required. The time shown on the timer still does not matter for your leaderboard positioning but this is to help our system to manually timing runs.

So this thread is about changes coming from D1 to D2 concerning leaderboard organization and rules:
-
Level leaderboards will be all map variants showing front page and modifier versions will be tucked away like it is now for Destiny 1. This is prevent complaints about things like strike times being unbeatable because of modifiers which I can understand the reasoning behind the complaints.
-
More things will be added as they are thought up.
Recently a sequel was announced on Bungie's Twitter for Destiny called Destiny 2. Will we have to wait until we are closer to release to add this game to our series or are we able to get that done soon?
So today a discovery was made while we were comparing a few different Nexus runs. Doctor Wonker and his group's 2:37, a 2:40 by Redeem and a 2:41 also by Redeem. Now, the death screen that says 'Darkness has consumed you', Aka the scoreboard and the wipe countdown that the game gives you when everyone dies to get to that screen are not consistent and offset the in game timer.
So first of all, the wipe timer that sends you to the darkness consumes you screen can either be 3 seconds or 5 seconds. Already, we have an inconsistency. I am not 100% sure if this is something that happens in solo too but it does happen in runs with 2 or more people.
Next, Scardrow and his group did a '2:35' Nexus run just earlier today. I took it upon my self to time this again with livesplit. The timer started when they spawned into the strike and paused when their death screen showcasing the scoreboard appeared and immediately started again when they respawned, then finally ended when mission complete had appeared. This however left me with the time of 2:33 instead of the '2:35'.
So not only is the wipe timer to see your death screen random as to if it will be 3 seconds or 5 seconds, but on top of that, the screen showing off the scoreboard also throws off the time shown at the end of the mission.
This means we have a dilemma. People can complete near perfect runs but have a level of RNG that was never intended rob them of the record despite their run being better in every way and having a faulty in-game timer give them longer time. It's like Destinytracker all over again adding random amounts of orbit time.
So the way I see it, we can do a few things: 1. Ban death warps. I say hell no to banning death warps on a grand scale like we banned the warp in King's Fall. We're trying to be fast here, not the same speed with a fake speedtest. 2. Have all missions the involve using a death warp be time in RTA instead of the game timer. I feel like this is the most simple option. To just include every second of the run as a part of the missions' overall time, death screen and all. 3. The more complicated option, manually cut all time spent in death screens out and use a timer on screen as your official time.
I'd hate to be a really strict mod and allow less fun but it's not cool to work really hard for a time just to get unlucky with the amount of time a death warp adds and lose a record time just because of some faulty in-game timer that serves no purpose to anybody but us. We could just be like other speedrunning communities an just use our own timing as the official one. I know the Borderlands speedrunning community does this. The time played given on the character's progress sheet is innaccurate to the actual time put into said character.
I know this went on for a while but this was a issue that could not be skimped on when it came to explaining the situation. There will be a video posted about this by either Ehroar, ModernTryhard, or me sometime this week.
Today's hype train has pulled into the station and you know what this means... NEW STUFF TO SPEEDRUN AND NEW GEAR TO PLAY WITH!
So just so you know, when all this stuff goes up I will be on at the very moment of release and will be adding all replayable missions to the leaderboards ASAP on top of making videos. No need to worry about when the stuff will go up, you'll be able to start posting times right away. If anything significant gets nerfed in the big patch we'll be sure to talk about what we wanna do with the leaderboards. Whether it be to archive all the old times like we did with the pre-2.1 times or whatever we come up with it won't be long until all is ready.
RISE OF IRON HYPE!
We can do spindle whenever now so why not have it on the site. Just have the end time be what was left on the timer.
Since it's only 3 bosses, I am putting the idea out there that we have it as 3 separate categoires: Finish it AFAP, 30k minimum points, then 50k minimum.
So it'd be:
Challenge of Elders: Challenge of Elders: 30k Points Challenge of Elders: 50k Points
Thoughts?
So, my clan, Redeem, ran into this guy who posted a fake 3:24 of the Shadow Thief nightfall back during arc specialist. There are several points during this video where if you pay close attention or have enough experience with the strike you can easily see that it is sped up and he skips him going to orbit and goes straight to the end game time. It's easy to fake an end screen time simply by sitting in the activity until the desired time since the end screen has no indication of the activity of it being complete. So I am proposing an idea of forcing people to show them leaving the activity, entering orbit, and showing the end time or their run will be denied. From now on I will be paying close attention to every detail of runs I verify to ensure there is nothing phony about any runs.
So sad that it is, the timebreaker and graverobber were patched so their insane speed trick are no longer working. Well, this means that just about any mission involving a sparrow now has an unbeatable time. The way I see it, 1 of 2 things should be done: 1. All mission times that involve a sparrow should be archived and the main leaderboards should be wiped seeing as how it's literally impossible to beat those times now. 2. A separate leaderboard or option for after patch 2.1 should be put up for all missions involving sparrows.
Now, it's not my decision but I felt like this should be brought to people's attention seeing as how such a major trick for most missions is no longer able to be used and that something should be done. If it's too much of a hassle to make a separate leaderboard or to archive all the old times I'd be happy to help out and/or make a google doc of all the old times for every mission and post it in it's own forum post for all to see should the decision to wipe all the leaderboards be the chosen option.
Since TTK has been out for a week, I'm wondering when all the new missions will be added to the leaderboard. Also, I would like to request that if possible, both hard and easy leaderboards be separate. Having them combined just makes anyone playing the hard difficulties look like they have bad times.
