Hi, a year late to see this (my bad). As much fun as it is to set IL's in game I would have to say it probably isn't the best fit for this site. The main reason is that there is barely any competition and many levels would either have a missing 1st place time or a 1st place time with notable mistakes. There are also a few levels straightforward to the point that a frame perfect time could be achieved with little to no effort. Unless this game explodes with popularity I think it's best to just stick with the any% category to not ruin the game's "speed reputation." If there are any tutorials or really helpful resources you want added feel free to share those.
To add onto that, I'm going to be the asshole that probably never has a decent run or major influence in BOTW speedruns and give my opinion on the matter.
Option 1: If the DLC doesn't influence the main story and the fifth dungeon has no impact on calamity ganon than I think it would be acceptable if separate categories were created for DLC
Option 2: If the DLC does influence the main story, my opinion is that the rules change under all dungeons and all main quests to incorporate DLC. All runs prior to that would be obsolete. I know this isn't a popular opinion and it will ruin hard work people put into their runs. I just figured I would give my 2 cents in case it has any influence come summer.
Upon release of the DLC, how will the leaderboards represent these categories? It only makes sense for the time being to have categories called "all dungeons" and "all main quests" when that will change in the next few months. Sure DLC could have separate categories for all dungeons and all main quests, but that makes it seem arbitrary to have a longer DLC run to include a new dungeon and possibly added main quests to what is currently defined on the leaderboards. Just my thoughts. Same issues with a filter. People care about what's faster and not what's politically correct when we say "all dungeons" or "all main quests."
The mechanics probably aren't the same on PC. If what Chess said doesn't work on Easy difficulty it might not be possible.
Yeah I would agree with that. The only reason I did runs without that time saver is because I was unaware that you could do that.
LordHorlamin made a fair point, but I would have to respectfully disagree.
In my opinion, all categories should start from a completed file. Messing with steams settings is not worth the additional 1.5 minutes of getting to chapter 1. However, it's a fair measure to prove the runner has completed the levels. I think it's open for a vote. Same with adding insane difficulty speedruns.
