actually, now that i think about it, i don't know if this method should be legal. i've always seen no issues with it, bc i can time myself accurately, but i suppose this could be used to start the timer a few milliseconds after the point where it should have, making a run seem faster than it was. If this method was allowed, moderation would become more difficult. if there are any better methods for timing runs on mac, please let me know.

i have a similar issue bc i play on mac, and livesplit isn't compatible with macos. what i do is, i take my speedrun footage, then in editing, i add in a recording of the timer from https://one.livesplit.org/ just running, and instead of stopping the timer, i use a freeze-frame effect to indicate when the run ends. i found that this actually allows me to time myself much more accurately.

that spear isn't as popular for speedrunning tho bc you can't change direction mid-dash and it slows u down a little while ur holding

Thank you, I didn't know the "land on rock" thing applied to the Fields fruit as well as the Towers fruit lol.

What about maps being updated? For example, the huge update they did with Wall, or more recently, the subtle (yet impactful) update on Forts. How would these affect speedruns?

I have a lot of runs with timers stopped a few frames after the fruit initially comes into frame. Would it be acceptable to re-edit the same run so that the timer stop is more accurate, then submit it as a new run?

My guess would be no. Ig it depends on whether you define AnyTech as "use whatever poosting technique to get the fastest possible time" or "do whatever you can to get the fastest possible time." Considering that the AnyTech subcategory was created with overpowered poosting techniques in mind, the former is probably how the mods define it.

Towers fruit is also a map where this matters a lot, bc it can be quite tricky to stick that jump without dying.

So the timer can be stopped the moment the fruit comes into frame? This could be confusing for a few fruits, for example towers. For the towers fruit, you can see a green dot really quickly, but it's not quite clear that it's a fruit until a while later when you get closer. When would the timer stop for that be?

there's a lot of confusion regarding floor poosting bc it isn't explicitly stated to be prohibited for NoTurbo runs. there are a few NoTurbo runs that use floor poosting as well. from my understanding, floor poosting is basically crab poosting, so it would fall in AnyTech. if that's the case, it should be stated more clearly in the rules.

Oh you probably want to poost until you get to the gate in gatehouse fruit speedrun, then switch to key

I don't see why you would want to?

There are currently 8 poosting techniques listed in the guide. Which techniques would allow the run to still be considered NoTurbo, and which techniques would make the run fall under AnyTech?

The two castles variants have different paths to get to the flag, so speedruns will be affected. I'm guessing there will be different categories for each variant, or only one variant will be counted.
