Rather than starting the run from a fresh save, I'd suggest starting from selecting Sunset Peaks 1 in the map in the hub area (this would skip having to go through the tutorial dialogue for every run, plus having the added bonus of character customization). I'd also suggest ending the time when the final cutscene begins to avoid ending on the run on a long, boring note with the walking to the credits. Using IGT over RTA could also be a positive change as well, nullifying runners with quick loading times having an instant advantage; I could concede that this may only be suitable for IL runs though. Going to do a run using these rules later today, but I'd like to hear thoughts on them.
Here's an example. Just note that I ended the time a split second late - this would optimally be ended as soon as the black screen appears before the final cutscene.
I like this idea, I submitted a run under the current rules and had to delete my save. This does seem like might raise some problems though, because a player would have to complete the game in full before doing a speedrun, and the game might not feel complete if the ending isn't counted.
Rules are changed to: Timer starts from selecting 1-1 and ends when credits roll. Thanks for feedback, placed the old rules there as mockup til the game got enough research init.
Looking forward to the runs ! :D
Just to clarify is a new save needed, or can you play though the game beforehand in order to skip the dialogue boxes?
Since timing starts from selecting 1-1 and therefore cuts out the tutorial, maybe a better name for the category is "All Trails%" or something like that. Just a thought.
Could make have auto removing of the timeloss the dialog boxes take ? If newgame+ does that ?
