Warpglitch

Hi, I was wondering what information there is regarding the Warp Glitch at level 9?

Who discovered it, how does it work? I only know about it because I've seen runners using it.

If you are interested in seeing a TAS that uses it I made a run http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5572 however understanding the technical details of the glitch may open up other fun possibilities.

I am not sure where I read it, but apparently the flag for the last boss is somehow put on that barbarian dude. Also your TAS looks ideal with the exception that it might be faster to get all critical hits with thieves. Good job!

What emulator were you using FCEUX?

Thanks, and yes I was using FCEUX.

Thanks for replying, I'll be redoing the TAS trying to manipulate faster criticals with the thief. Also as the RTA uses two thieves it might be worth to accept whatever dice rolls are given and create a two or three thiefs party simply to save time by critical hitting anything that moves. Maybe even manipulate bad rolls for the Magician to let the thieves get first hits in fights.

I will be spending some time looking at the assembly code with the debugger trying to figure out what causes the Warp glitch. Seems so strange how just walking back and forth a bunch of times somehow makes the Barbarian appear. Will have a look at the RNG values when the Forth triggers and also see if I can find RAM locations for player floor and tile to see if those change.

More research on this glitch is definitly needed, if it's RNG based we might be able to trigger the Warp earlier.

I think I remember that even changing direction would effect the FORTH message if you were at a corner. It's been a while though.

There is an interesting glitch with priority if you were not familiar and it may prove useful in a TAS. At one point I had made a spreadsheet with outcomes that led to negative Initiative. Essentially low stats (excluding strength) and low health can give underflowing initiative. You can even get a underflowing initiative which means a massive amount of turns right from the start. But the problem is that your hit goes down since your agility sucks too, but the knife is a good weapon for high initiative.

from Dragondarch, although it looks like he got it from Mr. Kelly R. Flewin on that thread you linked: initiative = random[0,9] + agility + intelligence + weapon initiative + currentHP - maxHP To-Hit = random[0,9] + agility + weapon to-hit
