So with the new trick traditional RPG enjoyers are definitely being left behind if they want to compete since the new style of run entirely breaks it.
Countdown already mentioned the idea of splitting with the new route and the old route with Dynamo. I'm not opposed to the idea but it may make more sense to have entirely glitchless vs glitched, but I would like to hear more on this.
As well I'm not sure how exactly to separate on different versions. The smartest I'd guess is combine the unofficial english ones and keep JPN on its own end?
I just meant two leaderboards: any% and glitchless. Perhaps skip dynamo can be a 3rd if anyone besides me (or fattninja?) really cares to try and beat the glitchless time with it.
As for versions: if both English versions are slower (I assume this is true I don't know for sure) I'm not sure there's enough active runners to warrant anything more than a column on the LB (so we dont have 6 or even 9 categories), but I don't want people to feel punished for not learning the Japanese version. I'll leave that for mods to decide. If I have time Thursday night I'll do some rough timings of the text differences for both US translations.
Hello. The behavior of the glitch used in my record this time corresponds to "Memory Corruption". Therefore, I think it is better to divide it into three types: Any%, Any% Memory Corruption(or Any% No Memory Corruption), and Glitchless.
I think we can leave it with Any% and Any% Memory Corruption and I do like the idea of a tab for translation type.
So it would be JPN(Any% Memory and Any%) as the main category And English(Any% Memory and Any%) With Gaijin/2016 as variables instead of entirely separate categories if there isn't a huge difference.
If there is strong interest in Glitchless exclusive we can make that separate but I don't believe a Dynamo time actually beat the Glitchless WR.
No, Any% Glitchless should be the main category.
The JP/Translations should be parameters, with the main categories split as: Any% Glitchless. Any% (no memory corruption [AKA generator skip]) Any% (memory corruption)
Feel free to throw me a sword since I seem to be the only runner these days and I'll do it.
Nice to meet you, and hello. I also share the same opinion as Countdown. I believe that the categories should be divided into three groups: Any%Glitchless, Any%DynamoSkip, and Any%MemoryCorruption.
These three categories utilize different routes, and when comparing Any%Glitchless and Any%DynamoSkip, there are only slight differences, but they are all intriguing and appealing.
When comparing the records in each category, it's evident that there is a significant disparity, and competing on the same level wouldn't be fair. (My personal record: around 59 minutes for Any%Glitchless, and around 55 minutes for Any%DynamoSkip.)
Currently, the top three positions in the records are held by Any%MemoryCorruption players. No matter how fast a record an Any%Glitchless or Any%DynamoSkip player achieves, they would still rank fourth or lower. This could potentially demotivate Any%Glitchless or Any%DynamoSkip players.
For fairness, it is crucial to have a level playing field that encourages fair competition.
As I mentioned earlier, if the categories are divided into three groups, I also plan to submit records for both Any%Glitchless and Any%DynamoSkip.
Hey everyone!
I also agree with Mamiya & Countdown. To keep things fair, I'd like to see the runs split into the 3 categories: Any% Glitchless, Any% Dynamo Skip, and Any% Memory Corruption (or "Board Glitch" as I like to call it) for the JP and both ENG translations. Hopefully a mod can implement this soon.
Thank you in advance🙏🙏
I also agree with Mamiyachan and Stephen! Great ideas!
Hey again!
I think maybe we need an additional moderator (or two)? Ecdysis is the only person who's been active. The other mods seem to have not been online in quite a long time. I think we'd all like to see the categories separated (like discussed above) and we need someone to be able to do this. Soon, I'd like to start attempting some Glitchless runs and wouldn't want that to conflict with my Memory Corruption runs. Having the categories separate will make that possible. I'm still pretty new around here, so not sure how moderation works... Does the community nominate somebody...or does an existing mod have to do that? Either way, for fairness this needs to happen sooner than later!
🙏🙏
I would like to see glitchless too, I'm interested in that or the dynamo skip routes.
