We believe that there is a specific rule that is wrong
1 year ago

Greetings, on April 15, me and my partner "Maruh" were streaming SM64 Coop on twitch, in the following categories: 2P, 120 stars, Vanilla. At a certain point, Maruh's game crashed, so I immediately paused the timer and stopped moving, waiting for him to reconnect, when he came back, I started the timer again and we continued playing normally. We were going to upload the VOD to Youtube and then post it here on the page, but we realized that there is a rule that we think is wrong, The rule in question says: If only one person crashes, have them join back. The timer will not pause during this time. This seems quite counterproductive to us, first of all, the time it takes for a person to reconnect is variable, it can take a couple of seconds or even a few minutes depending on what happened, and having the timer keep running when this happens it can literally ruin the whole run.

All timers have the option to pause time at any time, and if someone crashes, I don't see the point of keeping time running when you can just stop it, and start it again when the player re-enters the game.

We believe that the rule should be modified,

1- there should be the possibility to stop the timer if a player crashes, and continue when the player connects.

either

2- Just delete that run and start from 0 again.

What do you think about this?

If you need proof, I can give you the link to the twitch VOD and also the link to Maruh's POV so you can see exactly how it happened.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for late answer, but I believe that this rule is like that because since all POVs aren't required, if the rule stated that it was fine to stop the timer then how could verifier verify that one of the players who isn't sharing POVs isn't still playing the game after someone crash ?

Now I guess that this rule could be changed to be able to pause the timer for 2P since both POVs needs to be submitted..

Minor Update: General Rules

Please note that the General Rules section of all categories have been updated:

You must show the Server Settings before starting your run, this simplifies our verification process a lot. You can that by recording them before hosting or do it in-game by pausing, pressing R then selecting Server
