NOT SPEEDRUN RELATED (approximately)

Decided to start a discussion about the category itself. Here is my personal research about each "golden star" section: Action Level : Hard (no matter what) Riddle Level : Hard/Extra (No matter what) Ending: Doesn't matter Ending Clear: All endings including Sub scenario

Saves: here is actually pretty fun fact that the game allows you save officially 2 times. But i saved 980 and still got 10 star rating. However - this section is not gold personally for me . Which means that game calculated it a little bit different way: i did not "used" any red squares on the wall which means i didnt tried to save the game officially. I saved only using "quick save" feature and game can show only "0", "1" and "2" as a GOLDEN NUMBERS.

Total time: just fast enough :) Items: 150+ 8 special items Defeated Enemy by Shooting: 75 Defeated Enemy by Fighting: 75 .... This section has a lot of problems and questions especially for the speedruning . And here is why: When you first encounter any enemy - the game gives you the "weakest" health bar. You will spend only 2-3 (sometimes 4) bullets maximum of your pistol to take it down and kick it. But after Hospital this section is getting broke so bad with the rules, that you cannot even predict will 200+ bullets in your shotgun will be enough to kill 75. Not enough for me ( timecode 1:21:58)

From my own research i can say that the game has multiple "invisible" frames and distance of the bullets for the every single enemy. You wont be able to kill a demon nurse with a shotgun if you standing too far OR you have two enemies at the same time and you have to switch between them. When it happens you can spend from 4 bullets up to 14. And its a lot of time too. Also when i tried to do this category first couple times the game counted the enemies quite wrong (or maybe i counted wrong) i killed exactly 75 by kicking and 80 by shooting, BUT game counted that i kicked 70 and killed 85 by shooting and that happened to me 3 times total. How - i have no idea. Unfortunately i have no more videos from this runs to show it or check it (it was live twitch and i deleted it after)

Boat stage: less items = faster boat. Lie. Total Damage: same like in shooting/kicking section: first you have really weak enemies (approx damage is 1 - 6 PTS maximum from roaches and 7-15 from spitters) In hospital this damage becomes more significant (20-30 PTS from nurses) city even more (demon nurses up to 40) and maximum damage from regular enemies comes from abstract daddy's (up to 50)

Bosses like Eddie, Flesh Lips, Pyramid heads and Mary has also different values, but only Eddie and Flesh Lips could be a problem here (cause its better to go for the Dog ending to skip two bosses)

Flesh Lips has also different damage: the first one (which is kinda passive one) can hit you up to 20 PTS Second one more aggressive and swing/choke you up to 25-35 PTS and third one can choke you up to 45 PTS

Eddie is the most dangerous in this section: his kick is the weakest attack BUT from the video you can see (time code 1:44:16) that he only kicked me 6 times and i got 208 PTS total. Before that i got kicked once by spitter, twice from usual nurse, swinged once by second flesh lip and chocked a little bit by the second one as well. Eddies kick is around 25-40 PTS as well, but the revolver attack is up to 60 PTS - the strongest attack in this run (not counting First Pyramid head with insta-kill attack)

This is my personal thoughts and results, im pretty sure that there is a lot of mistakes in damage sections and lots of research in enemies itself.

You know Melee kills are the easiest part by far given that you can get all of them from the bug room right?

I had trouble getting it to work properly in the bug room. Not sure what I was doing wrong but when I attempted my 10 star run, the bug room was one of my "Problem" areas. Kept taking damage. Wouldn't stomp on the bugs properly. No idea what I was doing wrong. Ended up just moving forward and hoping I had enough kills (I didn't).

IIRC shoot/spray the wall with the lights off then mash and James usually stomps like 8 at once.

I know about spray and bug room, you can actually find a perfect run on youtube with exact numbers and i remember the guy was using that room for the melee kills.

However - its almost impossible to do this trick without Hyper spray. You either loose tones of time, or health, or patient (like the guy above)

Minor but Important Rule Change:IGT Must Be Shown on PC Runs

Going forward we will be requiring a visible IGT timer on submissions on the PC version, preferably using the LiveSplit script. Most people already do this, but we're making it mandatory to make run verification easier. Thank you for your understanding.
