Yeah we figured that having a uniformed set of rules for settings across the board would be the easiest way to balance things out. Also the addition of different categories still makes everything interesting. Sorry you have to resubmit. I know it's a pain but I think the categories are a bit more defined now. Any other ideas for anything let me or Danny know :)

Sounds good. Sorry for the inconvenience to you. Having damage at 100% would be confusing if a newcomer came along and was confused on why they weren't able to get even sub 10 minute times. This way everything's uniform for people new to the game and veterans. If it makes you feel better I had to redo my run. And If you wanted I can send an 8:30 run I have on falcon with 100% damage.

No one's saying you did anything wrong. We changed the rule so there wasn't any discrepancies in game settings. I resubmitted a different run. All that's asked now is that settings are on default. And if someone beats my time on default then that's more than fine, I'll beat them. I'm not changing the rules to benefit myself. Your run was great. I beat the run anyways but having everyone mess with game settings would be convoluted and harder for new peoples to learn the game if they're interested. So we took down both runs and made it so that it wouldn't be confusing to anyone just learning the game. If you want 100% damage setting run I'm more than happy to set that up for you.

No you're right. It wasn't until I saw 4 minutes shaved off a default time I went. Oh shit there's a damage setting that could get pretty confusing. So yeah to make it less confusing (cause even a dude that's been playing for 2 decades forgot) having the settings be as they are when you turn on the game would indeed be much less confusing. Well yeah the rules changed when you submitted your run, it was your video that made me change the rules, as they didn't talk about difficulty or damage changes at all. You have to agree that any change in either of those values would have an impact on someones run, let alone any other game for that matter. I do apologize if you felt personally attacked by any of these changes, as that wasn't my intention. If you have any real problems please let me know. Gee just plays that game; I handle pretty much everything else.

Oh for sure this is human error in full effect, and it is this humans error. I take full responsibility for what happened, as I made the original rules for the run. I'm not overly familiar with the game as you and Gee seem to be and my inexperience has caused this whole situation. I am new to this whole "Mod" thing and I want to be able to help in any way I can. You are right, the sudden change of rules is total bullshit and I cannot apologize enough for how I handled it, but I felt it was a necessary step in the right direction.

Please don't be discouraged from submitting another run due to my lack of experience. I only hope I do better by you and anyone else.

I just want to point out a few things;

A lot of people more casual to the game you could make the easy category a minimum difficulty, max damage any character run.

I like the game difficulty being set to default always for normal arcade. So I think that was a good change. I was happy to see the difference from a year ago.

A lot of the current speedruns use Valgas, who is a boss character. He can’t be played on a dreamcast without a vmu or save data with an arcade clear. This makes it a new game plus. Kraken is also the same condition but I did not see any runs.

I’m still going to work on some routing and running the game. I just thought it was important to mention since it seems the intent here is to respect the way the game was intended to played and maybe make things accessible to new players.💎
