This is mgs3 no guns. lmk what you think of the rules. I am more than happy to discuss them and tweak them to more peoples liking. This run would be invalid if im going by my own ruleset its more of a concept of possibility but if and/or when this gets accepted I'll do a run to the decided rules. Any thoughts or critiques on this would be welcomed and appreciated!
MGS3 no guns rules im purposing
-
no guns
-
normal difficulty
-
no alerts
-
no continues
-
1 kill
-
no boss camos
-
no special items
Rules expanded

no guns - you obviously have guns equipped after loads and cutscenes but as long as you are not actively using them (shooting, aiming, E-Z gun camo) you can hold them or even equip them in your menus for faster menuing later (Ex: Equip the M1911A1 in the GG Tunnel since it gets equipped after anyway).
-
normal difficulty - This is the hardest difficulty that this run can be accomplished on non-lethally mainly because of Ocelot (grenade cap goes from 20 to 5). Lethally it may be possible on Hard with nades and WP's but I'm not sure. Difficulties under Normal I believe would be trivial and too easy so it would not even be worth the challenge. Plus this gets more people to expierience Normal which I think is a very fun difficulty :)
-
no alerts/4. no continues/6. no boss camos - I believe this adds a much appreciated difficulty and routing method to this run rather than just rushing through everything with no regard for anything, again it would make the run too easy and trivial.
-
1 kill - The kill belongs to Volgin 2/ Shagohod 2 it is impossible to non-lethally defeat him without the mk22 or the Mosin Nagant. If somebody can prove me wrong please do, this 1 kill is a stain on this run honestly.
-
no special items - runs with special items are dumb and bad lmao but with that said the infinite face paint is required if you would like to accomplish this on any other difficulty after Normal non-lethally and possibly lethally.
Sorry for the late response!
I think everything looks fine, but the no continues, alerts, boss calls would make it more of a challenge run rather than a speedrun category personally. I wouldn't want to include them in the rules.
I also do think the infinity face paint shouldn't be allowed, because we've never really allowed special items like that for runs(could be an exception here).
thanks for the feedback, I can agree with that actually the difference between a speedrun and challenge run that is. As for the infinite facepaint if you cut down all the restriction rules then this would most likely be done mainly on very easy so no facepaint I would say should stay the same and also wouldn't be necessary anyway. With all that said the ruleset would be changed simply to this;
- no guns - you obviously have guns equipped after loads and cutscenes but as long as you are not actively using them (shooting, aiming, E-Z gun camo) you can hold them or even equip them in your menus for faster menuing later (Ex: Equip the M1911A1 in the GG Tunnel since it gets equipped after anyway).
- no special items - infinite facepaint/stealth camo
Yeah sounds good. Would probably need to include the part about Volgin on the Shagohod, because there's no other way to kill him right?
there is not a way to avoid killing him. but would 1 kill still be a rule, or do you think kills should be allowed?
if 1 kill is chosen or if kills are allowed would drastically change the run id like to add, im cool with either honestly but id like to hear yours or others input on it.
