For the admin, by Gooey & ILoveRings:
hello admin you may have seen a few recent runs, and me and my brother we have seen some supitious runs, using some glitchs, we arent false accusating the runners, but please can you make a mode that you must play how Nintendo (Mercury Steam) wants. There can be legith, early bombs or early Grappling Beam (those are the categorys) on the recent version, please, can you make it?
Hello : on the Discord server, there has been a recent dicussion about the glitchless category. I want to mention that skips or sequence breaking are mostly not glitches, except if they use a glitch like pseudo wave for example.
For the mode that your are asking for, it's called Mercury Steam% iirc, so it already exists
One thing to note is that in legacy, you are allowed to sequence break(skip), but only the dev-intended ones.
Here is the link for the category(it's the first on the category extensions leaderboard) Metroid Dread Category Extensions - Speedrun.com
I hope you are satisfied with this answer and that you understand everything. Good morning/afternoon/evening/ night :)
We basically define Glitches differently than exploits. Water Space Jump is an exploit BECAUSE you are abusing an INTENDED Mechanic. Adam Skip is just wall jumping and manipulating movement to gain height, Gold Skip requires fast Beam Mashing, All not Glitches.
Astonishingly, one of our community members who likes to dig around in the game files has very recently found a file named pt_official.bptdef (a spreadsheet embedded in the game package) that contains a list of the checkpoints, in order, that represent the "intended" route through the game. So we could make a category based on that and it would represent the "canon" route. Please make a thread in community-suggestions in the Discord if you'd like to talk further, thanks.
Hey Everyone, in response to Twitch's announced 100 hour highlight storage limit going into effect on April 19th 2025, we have decided to disallow the use of Twitch highlights as a valid video submission to our boards. This will go into effect on April 19th and will only apply to runs going forward!
