So, as you may know, when you 100% the game, you get an Extra Mode. I actually believe this should be used for the speedrun.
I'll do some testing, but as far I'm aware, there are none of the story-related cutscenes, and it has an In-Game Timer. So not only is it probably a little bit faster (I say probably because I haven't tested it), but we could also time 100% using IGT.
The reason I don't propose Extra Mode for Any% is because in Extra, you can start with any world you want. In 100%, that would be pointless, since:
- You still have to collect all 120 chests
- That menuing would be slower... Real Time at least
Just a recommendation. I may get in to Any% or 100%, but idk :P
I'm actually against Extra Mode as it is almost the same run as 100%. The only difference is that you can do every world in any order you want, which would only be a difference around 5 minutes (IGT, it might be even slower than original 100% RTA). It is not worth it to make a new pointless category for that, not even misc.
I wasn't talking about it being a separate category. I was wondering if it was faster and would be better to use for the 100% category.
In my opinion that would be like using Meta Knightmare for KNiDL for 100%, it feels like a separate category to me
@jellobeaver
I already mentioned that it would be slower than original 100% RTA since every single cutscene after each level (Kirby dance) adds up some time as it wants to show you the lvl time.
The only differences between extra mode and original 100% is that you can choose every world in any order and skipping some minor cutscenes (~5-10 second timesave). I doubt that you would save more than half a minute through that, since original 100% already has a fast route.
So there's no point for making an extra category for that after all.
- I didn't know if it was faster, which is why I was asking. I mentioned they might be, but I was testing it.
- I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY EVERYONE THINKS I WANTED TO MAKE A NEW CATEGORY! I WAS ASKING IF IT WAS FASTER! NOW THANKS FOR ANSWERING!
Ugh...
