Guide for playing the Mobile Trial

Recently, the Klonoa: Door to Phantomile trial on mobile was dumped. I’m writing this to quickly show how to get the game up and running. You can play it with Mexa, but when JL-Mod/J2ME Loader get their next release, or Maholator adds Softbank support, those should be used instead.

# Mexa

1. **Download the necessary files**

At archive (dot) org, type “klonoa_trial” in the middle search box. Open the item, and next to *SHOW ALL* click on *8 Files*. After downloading, extract the zip.

2. **Install the Mexa Emulator**

Open the MEXA_un.msi. You can use defaults throughout the entire installation.

3. **Replace the default DLL**

Inside *C:\Program Files (x86)\SOFTBANK_MEXA_EMULATOR23 (default location)* replace the *SMAFMMS7EMU.DLL* from the .zip to here.

4. **Open the Sample Project**

After opening the app, you’ll have a blank screen. Open the Sample Project by going to the top left (F) and hitting (O). Open the sample project. After opening the sample project, you’ll have a phone on the screen.

5. **Change required settings (memory and resolution)**

The default options for heap memory and resolution are incorrect. Hit (P) then (T) at the top. Change Landscape settings to 400, 200, and 240. Then go to the next tab (bottom middle), and change the first option to *32768*, and the 2nd and 3rd options to *3072*. Press the End Call button to turn it on, and then the center button to get ready to install it. Then hit the Install button, and go to the location with your klonoa_trial.JAD file. It doesn’t matter if you hit Untrusted or Trusted after selection.

6. **Launch the Game!**

After installing, hit Launch then the third option, which should be Klonoa. The first prompt asks if you want to play the video, press the 2nd option which is no. After entering you can press the left softkey (button left of Clear) or F2, and click the 2nd option to disable tutorials.

You can play using your mouse (hitting the buttons in the 2nd window) or by pressing the following keys:

**Left / Right Arrow Keys:** Look Up / Down

**Up / Down Arrow Keys:** Run Left / Right


**Enter / 5:** Wind Bullet


**6:** Jump


**Numpad Home/Page Up:** Run Left


**Numpad End/Page Down:** Run Right


**Numpad 6/4:** Look Up/Down
