Giant shout out to KumaKhan and JRM for pioneering this run! Been practicing for a few months on and off, and finally decided to give it a go - was so much fun. Completed this run on stream today over at twitch.tv/artbobb!

Ran it on a PS2 Slim, and a couple of optimizations I found really helped me cut down on time! The first was that I noticed if I removed the memory card while playing the run, the game wouldn't attempt to save in between each song. This saved a couple of seconds after each completed track! The second optimization is more of a hypothesis - but on my practice runs, I noticed that the songs seemed to potentially be loading faster when I selected "No Arena" as the arena option. So I tried to keep that consistent across the run as well!
