Asking this here to emphasize my frustration with the matter. In 2018, under a previous account I used to have, I had a couple of Doraemon games added to SRC, such as Doraemon Memories, Doraemon 1 PSX/Saturn and Fujiko F. Fujio Party. At the time, if I recall correctly, requesting a game within a series to be added wasn't entirely up to a series moderator's discretion, but times must have changed since then and something might have mandated this change.
I've tried to DM the only active series moderator @Daroach as of this writing on both SRC and Discord with no response yet. What can I do in such a case? I know, it aggravates me because I am deeply passionate about the series, and made contributions for Doraemon games on sites like The Spriters Resource over the years. I got back in a mood for speedrunning recently, and would like to see more of its games get added to SRC, not only for myself but also for other players who would like to submit to a game's leaderboards.
I believe those problems are supposed to be resolved by submitting a ticket. In particular, "Become a moderator for an existing game" instructs that:
Moderators are considered inactive if they have not logged on or verified a pending run in at least 21 days.
If a game's moderators are highly inactive (have not logged on in three or more months) and not responding to off-site contact, and you have a run already on the boards, you may request moderation of the game without a pending run. Accepting these requests are at the discretion of site staff.
I don't know if I could be able to establish myself as someone willing to moderate a series, without having new runs that prove my worthiness. I tried submitting a ticket about becoming a series moderator earlier, only to have it rejected, prompting me to contact the other series moderators.
@BelvaCompany it is ultimately up to you whether or not you are willing to take up the role. Obviously if you want the series to be managed someone has to do it. To be clear, you requested to become a series moderator, not a game moderator? Because if so, yes, the "Add a new series to Speedrun" says:
We are not currently accepting new moderators for series.
If all you want to do is add a game to the series, there is a ticket category for that, "Change an existing game or series" > "Add an existing game to a series". You do have to be a moderator for the game in question:
Series associations are managed by Speedrun staff, but you can request a change for games you moderate.
However, if the current mods are truly inactive, then I believe you should be able to request a moderator role for the game ("Become a moderator for an existing game"), and then escalate into series inclusion.
This is, of course, assuming you are willing to do all this work, but that is your choice. But I believe you do have a course of action available.
