I currently run the leaderboards for the Metroid Prime series (1, 2, and 3).The current leaderboards are here: bombch.us/nId and the first sheet contains proof that I own the document.
I want to port them over to speedrun.com but it looks like someone named "FuzzyWuzzy77" has already gained control of the game and there are no runs present. I'd like to get control of all three Metroid Prime games.
I also think that these should be under the "Metroid" series and not under a separate Metroid Prime series. This makes the most sense to me.
Thanks for the help!
I've added you as a mod for the existing Metroid Prime game (and moved it to the Metroid series). You're also now a super mod for the Metroid series, so you can add the other games to it yourself.
The separate Metroid Prime series has been removed (as it was still empty anyway).
If we are moderators of a game, are we expected to post runs we did ourselves or is it enough to know the games well without actually being runners?
I ask because we are on the subject of Metroid and I know most of the games inside out including glitches and tricks but I don't yet have the competence to actually do a decent run. So I'm basically asking if I can also be a moderator for the Metroid series despite there being little chance of me ever doing a run. And we can definitely moderate multiple games right? Since I was recently given the honour of moderating the classic Golden Axe series and I don't want to over step my boundaries if it's not allowed.
Thanks for the help.
...
I just turned off the ability for supermods to edit Metroid Prime (the game), not realizing that that would remove my own ability to edit the game. Now it has no moderators and I can't edit it. Can you re-add me as a mod to the game? Sorry for the inconvenience.
There are several people in the Metroid Prime community who I would ask to be a mod if I felt I needed help. I will probably do so in the future. I don't think Pelador's help will be needed.
Well I wasn't specifically referring to Metroid Prime but more the series as a whole. Super Metroid is actually my speciality along with Fusion and the original game.
To clarify Pelador's question.
Communities tend to prefer people who actively or previous ran the game moderating the boards, so we've generally been giving them higher priority. (From our admin perspective this generally boils down to us at least checking if you have a run on the board.)
In the absence of active moderators who run the game, it is fine for people to moderate games they haven't run. In general it is expected that you have a reasonable knowledge of the game/categories. If we don't have enough active people approving runs, we can look to add people, but we don't greatly need to add more unless we don't have active people.
Regarding series, playing one or two games and being active is reasonable. We've been removing series moderators for the really large series, as the communities tend to be really spread out and series moderation isn't really necessary, but for the smaller series it seems to be helpful to have extra people around.
Moderating multiple games is certainly allowed.
Nothing wrong with asking of course.
I hope I don't sound petty asking for this, but would you considering changing me from regular mod to super mod of the series? I have no intention to mess with the prime games, but I've been the main leaderboard-keeper of MZM and fusion for a while now, and (with the help of people in the community, obviously) have spent quite a bit of time researching other games in the series, originally for an aborted gdoc project, and later for this site.
I'm super happy skull64 is importing his leaderboards, although they will (along with other games in the series) be much neater after the timing update.
Being able to do stuff like default sort by IGT while still listing RTA, and break IGT ties using RTA. I know you prime guys aren't big on RTA - I'm thinking more about fusion than prime - but just an option to consider.
