Obviously when time trials are added they should use the in game timer, but what abour full game/ cup times? On one hand it balances actual hardware and emulators with load times and lag in general, and makes runs more focused on just getting to the end faster, on the other hand it gets rid of the skill needed to manipulate the Cpus and would probably make easy mode the best difficulty to play on.
