Welcome to this guide for Bibi Blocksberg: Big Broom Race 3 which gives an overview over the different items, boosts and shortcuts in the game. Feedback is greatly appreciated and can be posted in the forum. Good luck and hex-hex!
Items
Some items are thrown in front of you, some are thrown behind you. Some items that are thrown forward by default can also be thrown behind you by pressing the item key and down at the same time.
Throwable Items
- Bomb: A bomb is placed behind you which makes enemies (and yourself!) stop for a while when you fly into it.
- Parachute: This item flies either in front of or behind you and will slow down the person it hits for a couple of seconds. When you're in first place and put the spell in front of you it will turn around after some time if it doesn't hit someone and can hit you.
- Tornado: A tornado is created either in front of or behind you which makes enemies (and yourself!) stop for a while when you fly into it. The tornado will not disappear by itself and will continue flying until it hits somebody so be cautious when using it since you could fly into your own tornado.
Items helping yourself
- Shield: This item creates a bubble around you that protects you from bombs, tornados and other spells.
- Yellow Arrow: This item gives you a speed boost. Unlike in most other racing games you can sometimes get this item when being in first place.
Items bewitching enemies
- Snowflake: Puts ice on the screen of your enemies, obstructing their vision for some time. Not sure if this affects computer enemies.
- Witch: This makes enemies in front of you smaller for a couple of seconds. I'm not sure if it slows them down.
- Whirl: You turn into a ball of light and steer automatically with high speed for a couple of seconds.
Boosts
Start Boost
If you hold accelerate as soon as the countdown shows 2 you get a speed boost.
Drift Boost
You don't drift by pressing a key but by simply steering in one direction for a certain time (I believe it's roughly three seconds, but I think the time depends on your speed). When you do this, your character's angle changes slightly and if you stop steering you get a speed boost.
Tailwind Boost
When you fly behind an enemy for long enough to be in their tailwind you get a speed boost.
Water Boost
When flying over water, for example over the river in "Al Oasia", you fly faster.
Shortcuts
Gloomy Cemetery
Right before the finish line you can use a speed boost item or a drift boost to boost over the grass and use the boost field on the roof of the house.
Shudder Forest
After you exit the village you can take a shortcut through the "mouth" of the tree on the right but as far as I know it's closed during the first lap and only opens during the second lap.
Known Bugs
- On the track Cloudy Trail sometimes laps aren't counted which results in having to fly an extra lap. If this happens while you're in 7th place or above the game puts you in 8th place. A video of this bug can be seen here: Cloudy Trail Bug
- I'm not sure if this is actually a bug but when an enemy is behind you and gets a tailwind boost and you line yourself up correctly you will be pushed forward with the enemy. You can get stuck in this boost as shown in this video: Boost Glitch
A new skip has been found for "Lava Gorge" by O.D.W. who had previously discovered a skip for the bonus track Cloudy Trail. In this guide you will learn how to do the skips.
