Game Rules

  1. Runs must have video footage with game audio, and must be at a minimum of 15fps on average (infrequent dips are fine)
  2. For verification purposes, recordings must start on the main menu or otherwise a few seconds before the run has started
  3. Runs must be performed on a vanilla version of the game with no modifications
  4. Runners must have the following HUD elements unobstructed throughout the entire run: Health, Armor, and Fuel
  5. You may not use any kind of Trainer, Cheat Table, Macro/Turbo, or otherwise unapproved external tools during runs. A Macro could include automated actions assigned to a single binding, or multiple actions bound to a single binding
  6. External software such as RTSS or Nvidia Control Panel can be used to cap the framerate for stability purposes, but the cap must be in place for the entire run at the same value.

Category

All Arenas

Arenas are rooms where progression is halted until all enemies are defeated - marked by red doors sealing both entry and exit. Runners should take note that outside of arenas, skipping other areas or enemies is allowed.

  1. Start with a new file and complete the demo (the use of Restart Mission while on Mission 0: Crash Course is permitted)
  2. All arenas must be beaten by means of combat
  3. Runners are permitted to play on any difficulty of their choosing
  4. Runners are permitted to make use of all game mechanics and including exploits/skips/glitches with the exception of skips that rely on pause buffering to load/deload parts of the level (even if it loads fast enough on some hardware to not require pause buffering)
  5. Intentionally lowering the in-game framerate, such as with the use of third-party software, is strictly prohibited

Timing

  1. Time starts on the first frame after leaving the Mission 0: Crash Course "Press any button to start" screen
  2. Time ends on the first frame of the results screen appearing after completing Mission 1: Paradise Lost
  3. Runs on the PC platform are required to use the LiveSplit load remover available within Livesplit under Edit Game so long as the game name is set as Metal Eden. You may download LiveSplit at http://livesplit.org/downloads/.
  4. Runs on other platforms will be timed via Real-Time Attack (RTA), unless they are within range of prize-eligible runs in which case they will be manually timed as Load-Removed Time (LRT)

What is a Challenge?

Challenges are time-limited speedrunning competitions.

They function very similarly to regular leaderboards except run submission is only allowed within a set time frame.

In addition to that, they may feature unique themes, rules, or objectives that differ from the regular categories. They provide an opportunity to explore different aspects of a game or to celebrate specific events, discoveries, or community milestones.

Challenges within our SRC Series are internally funded and hand-picked to celebrate and give back to our communities. These challenges not only recognize the passion and dedication of our runners but also encourage a more laid-back environment, focused on community collaboration rather than raw competition.
