Hey everyone,
I'm sure by now you've all heard that Twitch is implementing a 100 hour video limit to all accounts, and will automatically delete all highlights if your accounts do not get under that 100 hour limit. This is obviously devastating news to the speedrunning community, as so many submitted runs link back to Twitch highlights that are very likely to be deleted in April if no actions are taken.
I would strongly suggest that all active SRC members do their best to preserve their runs by migrating highlights to YouTube or other video hosting platforms. As a part of the moderating team, I'll be working hard to help you folks out where possible. I propose runners do one of the following:
- Upload your runs to YouTube and edit your current leaderboard PB run with the updated YouTube video link. This will get put back in the queue for the moderating team to verify the run, but don't worry about that I don't mind. As long as the video is of the same run I'll accept immediately. This includes grandfathered runs which were run on emulators which we have since banned (ex. GENS).
- You can add a comment on your run with an updated link to your video. You can either just leave it at that, or tag me in the comment to ask for the run to be updated with the new video, and I'll do that for you.
There will be runs from now inactive runners which will be lost to time. I have no interest in removing these runs from the leaderboards; Twitch will not erase our history.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
