I have attempted to reset the game completely so that I can be 100% sure that I got all of Dave's checkmarks for 100%, but something seems to remember if you've done the objectives or not.
I have tried this:
- Removed the 420BLAZEIT2 folder in "C:\Users<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Normal Wholesome Games"
- Checked Documents (no 420blazeit folder there)
- Completely uninstalled and re-installed the game
- even selected "Reset game progress" an extra time just in case
but the bonus objectives per level were still crossed out somehow.
Is it OK to run 100% and just "doing" all the objectives that are required per mission? It's much harder to verify this way, but I can't find any other way to completely reset the game and bonus objectives.
If needed, I can always make some timestamps showing when I got the objectives.
If anyone knows a place where saves are stored that I haven't found yet, feel free to share!
After unlocking some hax I found out that you can't progress achievements/levels with it on so it might as well be a NG+ with cheats haha
There was a big update two days ago that unlocked Hax (cheats) into the game.
You can unlock them by solving riddles, and one of the effects makes the game faster. I don't know any other effects besides big head mode (since I haven't gotten any yet, lmao)
There's also an "ez mode" option in game now, separate from hax. Not sure how that will affect runs.
Should hax be banned in runs, and or could there be a Hax% meme category? Silly idea, probably sucks to play through lol
Nice run! I never knew you could use melee from below an enemy until I saw your butter knife level and tested it myself
Update: I never saw all the settings in the game until now oops. I guess it could be rebound in-game too
Tested this just now and yep, seems like it's best to start sprinting, then jump + crouch to kind of "dive" forward.
Seems really difficult on a standard keyboard. Is it banned to rebind sprint or crouch to a mouse button on, for example, a Logitech G502?
Yo! Nice run!
Please please please try to get your uploads in 720p for future runs though, just in case! I saw your untimed run was in 1080p, but 720p is good enough for me!
(Note: Solved now, but keeping this post here for future reference. Text is edited from the original slightly)
The LRT for Penta+Deln's Co-Op Any% 2 player run shows an LRT of 1:21:29, but I did not know how they managed to calculate this.
LRT (Load Removed Time) pauses the timer during loading screens to make it equal across everyone's hardware. The timer continues running when you're in the main menu, however. I think we all know this.
Most Any% runs can be taken as an example for seeing it in action:
11:59
33:08
Note that Co-Op runs have an exception to this LRT method.
When in the main menu, the timer resumes like in any other category, but when going to the Lobby for co-op (letting player 2 join), the timer continues here too:
32:31
Penta+Deln's, as well as mine and Molly's Co-Op runs all use LRT.
At the end of Penta's video, the LRT timer shows 1:25:18, whilst their submitted time on the leaderboards and also in the video, claim it is actually 1:21:29.
1:29:03
This run uses LRT like normal, so what makes them think they achieved this speedrun time? I figured it out after trying several methods:
Penta's time of 1:21:29 is achieved by taking his video, and subtracting all time spent in the main menu + lobby, from his LRT time.
***(**his timer only shows one decimal, so I started framecounting from the first frame the decimal number went up, to the last frame it does in the loading screen)
Framecounting the total amount of time that the timer is ticking in the main menu, during his run, yields a total of approximately 13887 frames, or 3:51.45 minutes:
It is roughly a second off, due to his timer using decimals, and if you pay close attention to my co-op run video, you will see that the timer stops for a few frames when loading the lobby menu. This would take a few frames out of the total framecount with this method.
Re-timing My+Molly's run yields this result:
A WR! Now you know how co-op time is calculated
It would be best if this was mentioned in the category rules.
Godspeed, man. I wish you all the best. Thank you for the amazing speedruns!
Since Battleborn is playable again, this means that you can technically submit runs again!
However, since most of the functionality (including the main menu and the game's IGT calculation) is still missing, I have tried to figure out whatever gets closest to it.
So far, I found a method for calculating in-game time that gets close, but it is not exact.
For Main Story Geared/Gearless or any main story missions, you can calculate in-game time loosely with this website:
https://somewes.com/frame-count/
To explain this more easily I will use one of my own videos:
Set the Console Preset to Custom and the Console FPS to 60.
You can move forwards and backwards in videos per 1/5/10 frames, seconds or minutes.
Set the start frame to the first frame that your character can move. As an example, in my own Main Story Geared video, ISIC starts moving in The Algorithm on frame 40933.
Set the end frame to the first frame that the player/UI disappears when the mission is completed. In the same video, this is on frame 91974.
With this timing method, the in-game time frame counted is ~1.25-2 minutes slower than what the game used when servers were online.
This does not work with Operations. I am still trying to figure out how to calculate that.
If you submit any runs, I'll double check with frame counting.
I hope this helps!
Good post!
I believe the Medic is used for a few reasons, including the health regen for more survivability. Also, for some reason they gave the FAMAS a LOT of ammo and the damage/accuracy is surprisingly high.
I'd like to try a run with sniper to see how that goes but I might need more practice first.
Thanks to the incredible work of gwog and several other contributors, Battleborn PvE missions and Operations are playable again!
Please note, however, that submitting new runs to the leaderboards is difficult at the moment because of these limitations (at the time of writing):
- PvE Co-Op does not work;
- PvP (Online or bots) does not work;
- The main menu and loot aren't implemented yet;
- IGT isn't shown yet (And I still don't know how the game calculates it..)
Who knows, maybe they will re-implement these things in the future.
For more info on how to install, bugs and updates, please check the #frequently-asked-questions and #installation-tutorial channels on the Battleborn discord.
Hi! I've heard in the current WR (darksmoke's run) for Mordecai iny% that there's an Out of Bounds trick for Trash Coast. Is there a video of it somewhere showing the trick? Thanks!
There's a glitch in the Doom Fire challenge, where you will spawn as the One Man Army with snipers (instead of a flamethrower). This is just RNG though, as you would need to be assigned the One Man Army right before respawning, and the enemy must die to the fire damage over time OR their own damage, AND you need to be lucky that it chooses you.
Not very useful, because it's a lot of RNG, but small timesave in Challenge runs.
There used to be an option to replay the intro at any time from the level select menu, but they changed it in 2022(?)
I've tried a run with / without the intro back when this change was implemented, and I think we just run without the intro now.
Running with the intro loses you a LOT of time, because you keep unlocking outfits and items.
