With my password, I chose the rank I did due to not wanting to lose Wing Boot time so I can skip more content with boots. I think you would lose a lot of time with less wing boot time but more acceleration.
Hey, welcome on in! I have actually done a human-theory TAS, that still has some bugs to work out so isn't very accurate. That said though, sub 26 minutes should be possible for sure, as to exactly how deep into 25:xx is viable, I am not entirely sure. I would imagine 26:4x would probably be viable if someone where to really grind it.
As for the overall activity, it is sometimes pretty low, however, I have started de-rusting and going after WR again, and there is another new runner who I believe might also be going after WR. I think that is about all at this moment.
If you are thinking of running the game, it is a lot of fun, and the wing boot pausing strat isn't as difficult as it looks/sounds. I know if I am not at work and free, I would be watching any streamed attempts as well as a couple of other people that really enjoy the game. There is a small community that comes to hang out and watch, but not a lot of runners.
Good run! One thing I will ask of you though, is to show a reset at the start of a run, it is the standard for speedrunning in general. Normally people will edit the video to have around 5-10 seconds of footage from the end of the previous attempt included at the start of their run.
It is an open forum, every opinion is considered. It would probably be possible to figure out the difference using a TAS editor, and could potentially be used to allow English running to be a possibility if someone wanted.
There is a name input in the JP version, but you are correct, it is before timing would start.
I know I look forward to you beginning attempts when you feel comfortable doing so. Are you streaming your learning process? I would definitely come hang out while you are learning.
Seeing as there is only 1 listed run in JP, i was wondering what the community thought on the idea.
You should also note that the JP version is faster as there is a lot of unskippable dialog in the game, so it would definitely affect more than just adding one run to the board as I'm sure at the very least the top runners will switch to JP if this happens.
Well, for whatever reason, I had to go back to version 1.16 to get it to work, but it is working for me now. I will probably finish learning and start grinding a bit after work today.
I believe I'm on v1.23, but I will try out 1.20. I'll update if I figure it out so if someone else has this question in the future, the answer will be here.
So, I'm just starting to learn FDS any% but for whatever reason, I can't get the glitch to cooperate. I have tried about a half dozen different roms and none of them produce anything different than what happens in this clip
I am running on an Everdrive N8, not Pro. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong, or if there is a specific rom that should be used?
When I emulate, I prefer FCEUX. As for controllers, I would say the best option would be to get an NES brick controller, and then an NES to USB adapter so you can use it on your PC. I have yet to find a half decent USB controller. They are usually really cheap knock-offs. Good Luck in your speedrunning adventures! You picked a tough game for your first speedrun, but stay positive and keep up with practice.
Crissy is definitely going to be able to get you a faster arm with her faster throwing, but sub 3 as PGH said, is very possible with Laura. My first sub 3 run was actually completed with Laura.
As for the RNG side of things, I TASed out the route we use, and there are 2 out of the 256 possible seeds that line up with Crissy in the second cabin. I haven't checked for Laura as I only wanted to know the likelihood of getting WR paces with Crissy.
As the title says, I am wondering if there are any flashcart specific rules. I randomly generated a game to learn how to speedrun for the new year, and this is the game that came up. I am just wondering if there are any specific rules on flashcarts (Everdrive specifically) until I can find an original cart locally.
Just wondering if there would be any interest in a Chapter 1-4 category. It is a little bit more bite sized, and a good starting point to learning the game. Just an idea. I see some people doing C1-4 races (Mostly with Randomizer, but still) and I know I would be more inclined to learn the game faster if there was at least this as a start lol.
Oh, ok. I always hit start the first time I hit start on the mask screen, I should re-check my PB time in that case. I doubt it will change anything though.
So, I am not the greatest at explaining this, but I will do my best. I noticed that when you push the start button for the first time, it takes you from the "Mask" screen, to the "Friday the 13" screen, then when you push it again, it goes to the screen with all the text, then the third start input goes to Character select.
Now, the important thing that I noticed, is that when you let the game sit, the mask gets stabbed, and then it goes to the "Friday the 13" screen on its own and then plays the sound.
Now for the question, is there a reason that we don't try to find a potential seed starting from that second screen, maybe saving a little bit of time? I mean, it probably wouldn't amount to a huge amount of time, but it might be a bit more consistent with a potential audio/video cue based on when the screen changes and sound plays or something.
My only issue with your All Item run, is you didn't get the Glove or Hourglass at any point in the run :p
Is it just me or do the guides not link to anything anymore? I see nothing but the author on the guide pages anymore. No videos, or nothing.
Just because you have a shield, does not mean that you would need to have it equipped, so you can just buy your shields and then never equip them to make ointments still a thing. I think it would be interesting to do, but a lot of effort put into routing and making it work.
I would say all non-consumables would be the 100%. I would consider Elixir a consumable since it is one time use. Or even going so far as to say that you must have at least held all of the items in game at one point. Even if you do not finish with the item. Just my 2 cents.
