joelnir made me aware that there are filters that you can use to view runs from a specific console. I'm not sure if consoles should be separated into their own subcategories for this, it's kind of redundant with the filter, but subcategories make the distinction more clear.
PC does come with music!
The real reason people are saying the PC version doesn't have music is because most pirated versions of the game have stripped out the cutscenes and music files. The legit PC version does come with some loading time if it's run from a CD (still a LOT faster than console versions). However, the loading time is quirky in the sense that if all the cutscenes and soundtrack have been loaded, the next playthrough will have next to no loading. Basically, to set up the game for speedrunning, one would need to play through the game in its entirety before starting runs. I ripped my game CD to an ISO at some point, which eliminates the need to play through the entire game for the loading times to be fast.
Edit: I've tried to get a hold of Jazzy, as he has run both PS1 and PC. He says can't remember particular differences outside of loads being much slower.
I believe coins actually count towards some internal completion counter. There seems to be two different versions of the PC game, but I can't determine why this is. One of these versions has an additional level overview screen displayed between levels, like on the console versions, which shows the percentage of completion. I think this version is slower purely because of the additional time it takes between levels, so I haven't bothered looking too deep into it, but I still think it would make sense to follow its 100% definition if it does differ from my previous statement.
It's also linked in the Resources found on the sidebar from here.
I think what PresJPolk suggests is the best solution, and I've been told a leaderboard like that can be hosted on Harddrop (arguably the most prominent community for modern Tetris games) which is a pretty good starting point. I'm a little worried that it's going to flop for other reasons in that case, the abstraction away from speedrun.com potentially turning people away from the "effort" of registering/submitting, particularly if it's hosted on Harddrop which also requires the users to register to participate in the community. What I mean is that people are likely to register on Harddrop, but when presented with this theoretical leaderboard they might ask "why register twice to publish my record", or something. In that case, maybe it's better to just rework their attempt at a leaderboard without the use of speedrun.com's API.
That's likely what one would do, yes. The issue right now is that I don't know if I am allowed to request a mode present in several free standing games as its own "game". It does not make sense to modify any of the existing leaderboards as they are tied to their respective game.
The primary mode of time-based competition in the Tetris scene is undoubtedly the 40 lines mode, or Sprint as it's called in "official" terms. For some time, NullpoMino, a certain Tetris-clone, has also (sort of) been the de-facto game in which people compete.
Having been a part of the community for a while, and as a mod for NullpoMino here on speedrun.com, I've been noticing that there are other implementations of the game that people enjoy playing, specifically clones such as jstris, and Cultris II as well as Tetris Online Poland (private server of the now defunct Tetris Online Japan, and not a clone). To some extent, Tetris Friends and Puyo Puyo Tetris.
These games, too, have a 40 line mode, and people are achieving times somewhat equal to what they can achieve in NullpoMino. The current leaderboard of 40 lines mode on HardDrop does not discriminate between any of these versions, as long as the community deems it acceptable. Sure, some versions are imposing slowdowns compared to others by introducing animations and delays on line clears and piece placements, so there is no direct 1:1 comparison between top times in a game such as jstris and Puyo Puyo Tetris, but at that point it's up to the user to determine whether they want to compare themselves to the greater Tetris community, or just in their respective game.
What I'm trying to convey here is that the the NullpoMino leaderboard feels too limiting as other games are equally relevant in the competition. Would a general Tetris 40 line leaderboard be at all possible, seeing as it's not a specific "game" anymore?
tetris worlds, from 52:15 in 2014, to 34:25 in 2016, a ~42% decrease. primarily due to improvements in other tetris games over time
now there's a good username if i ever saw one, i dig your profile
2013: Marlow Briggs and Mask of Death (at least on PC)
The skip button appears after a few seconds and can be a little iffy, but all cutscenes except the very last is skippable. It's not a good speedgame though :(
the "easy" method might be to use something like Avidemux and manually figure out the duration of your run. if the game is an executable, it should be possible to write a script for livesplit's autosplitter, which can read the game memory for certain things like game start and game end.

The sole difference is how much damage the enemies hit you for. They should have the same amount of health. The difference then becomes apparent in where you have to pick up bananas to heal yourself, and to avoid certain tiny speed strats normally done in Easy to preserve health.
i think you may have misspelled your youtube username, by the way
I have put an invite link in resources of a game I mod, I don't know how many people (outside of myself) go looking there for useful things when picking up games though
Clicking within the div of an IL entry on a user's page, but not on the link leads to http://www.speedrun.com/user/undefined Reproducible here: http://www.speedrun.com/user/XerxesAsuras
Unsure if it's been reported before.
Edit: Turns out it only leads to /user/undefined
if the source user has ILs set as their default view on their profile. In my case, retracing the same steps here: http://www.speedrun.com/user/china/individual_levels leads to /user/china/undefined
search for utah here, there's plenty of registered users: http://speedrun.com/users/us
