I'm going to add the Program after the Weekend. Want to polish it a bit more.
I like Kaba's Idea.
I would split Seed Runs and Blind Runs for the GameID. You need to look into your PC and may even tamper a file. This is way to much for beeing in the same Leaderboard.
I would go for Seed Runs:
- Time from Loading the File
- GameID is known and Routing with the program is allowed.
Blind Runs:
- Time from new Game (OK Button)
- GameID is not known and looking up the cart with the Program is not allowed.
Yes, it's done.
I sat down a day and programmed the whole Cart Lady in with Items and Prices.
Only Rarecrow isn't 100% accurate, but the rest works for over 10 Files with the right order and prices so far.
¤The program is standalone, so you need the GameID from a file.
Now, because the Program works (Here is proof-> http://prntscr.com/arxb0l We might add the "Seed" Variable to the Runs, so people can use the program in runs.
Now I want your opinion on that idea.
Upcoming things for the program:
- Searching for a certain item, when it comes up. (Year,Spring,Day14 for ex.)
- Visuals.
If ever the game gets an Update which would ruin many runs. We have the option to play on an older version, or to open a new leaderboard for the new Version.
If a new Version opens up a glitch, but changes something, we could add Version numbers to the run.
There is a lot of possibilities.
Anyway, some feedback about the timing would be nice. If you want to make adjustments like sound or Zoom-Buttons (Not actually Zooming out!), that can be fine. But every action needs an adjusted starttime, so it is fair for everyone, even the people who don't zoom.
For Instance, I adjust game sound (+0 Secs, because you could use windows and adjust it before the run starts), and enabling Zoom Buttons, (+1.5 Secs).
If we want to add 3-6 Seconds because of loading from Save-file, that's also an option.
The Cart exclude Minerals, Weed, Quest items, Arch and maybe some other Items. Like the code itself tests against these Strings.
Edit:
More Categories? I don't see the point in there because, Who says that our Seed is better than your RNG seed? And adding more categories makes this Speedgame more a joke than a list to compare.
Thanks to people on Reddit, we know how the game determines the items of the Traveling Cart.
The Thing is, we need the Game ID, which you can get by looking on the folder of the Savefiles.
So we discussed a bit and come to the following. (None of this is set, we want you on the Forums to give Feedback aswell)
-
Create a File and after the first saving, before you stand up from your bed, close the game. (Now you have a clean Savefile with an RNGseed)
-
Setting start of the Timer to Load Game of that Game, so you could copy your seed over to other tries for instance.
We're actually trying to get a programm which would show in which order, on which day, which Items are in the Travelling merchant. When we have that programm we would add a Variable to all Speedruns where every runner can say, with Seed or without Seed.
Banjo-Tooie and Banjo-Kazooie both use similar things.
Banjo-Tooie, uses a save-file which determines the pattern of the jinjo. (Jinjo Patterns are chosen the moment you create a file)
Banjo-Kazooie uses a programm where you can select the answers of the Gruntilda Questions to get the right answers for the questions.
If people are against one of these ideas. Please speak up, we won't decide alone because we are a community.
The idea Raarz, isn't bad. I try to figure out how to do them, but in case your run disappears, just reenter it then.
Anyways, will you ever consider using Discord? It could help a lot, to discuss things.
Edit: have a Look!
For Clint's Cutscene are 2 things you need to have.
- You need to "collect" one Ore.
I collected ore in the cave, but maybe you can buy copper and collect it after throwing out.
Hit Esc-Button when game is saving.
You can skip the clicking of the sleep-box by pressing Y to accept.

Beat my time on my Waifu and you break lose the Theory-crafting. ;)
I don't see the point of adding another category already.
Rarecrows itself is very long, and if we play on another version it just gets more messy.
If someone is way too dedicated and want to do that, sure. But to ask to track that before people could argue about is something different. If the majority is in for that okay.
This Glitch is called a Quick-Kill and is possible for Squid baron, Hypno Baron and Nega-Shantae. It instantly start the script as if the boss is defeated.
¤You don't use PikeBall for a Quick-Kill, that is another glitch to dupe gems.
To get a Quick-Kill on Hypno Baron or Squid Baron you have to transform into any animal on the same frame you get hit. While you Dancing you still get dmg, because the invincibility-frames when you get hit, still counts down even if you dance. If you do it correctly, you will see that something is wrong with the boss. After you collected the seal, the game ports you out. (Only used in Any%no OOB, 100%)
Nega-Shantae is hard to get. You have to get hit on the same frame you hit her. So you whip your hair and hope that the hairwhip animation hits her the same frame your invincibility-frames goes of. ¤SideNote: You can't use Dancing because she steals all your powers. It sounds easy, but you lose about half a heart everytime you mess this up. (Trick can be used in every Category)
The Reason why this Glitch works is, because the game is very bad in handling 2 things at the same frame. When you start an animation and get hit at the same time or when you get hit on the same frame, the error-handler will kick in. At this moment the game don't know what to do and starts the script that will handle all things when the boss is defeated.
